Happy National Fire Safety Day !!!

On 14th April 1944, a fire and explosion occurred at Victoria Dock of Bombay Port.. A S S Fort Stikine carrying a mixed cargo of cotton, gold, ammunition and around 1400 tones of explosives. Fire and two giant blasts killed around 740 official deaths including 476 military personnel. The explosion was so strong, sinking surrounding ships , scattering debris. A piece of propeller landed in st.xavier high school some three kilometres from the docks. The Mumbai fire team fights continue for three days to control, he lost their fighters. Later 8000 men worked seven months and removed 5,00,000 tons of debris.
