১৩/০৭/২০২৩ তারিখ সকাল প্রায় ৯টা নাগাদ পারিবারিক অশান্তির জেরে রঘুনাথ মালিক তার নিজের পিতাকে একটি ধারালো অস্ত্র (বটি) দিয়ে মাথায় আঘাত করে। আঘাতের ফলে গুরুতর রক্তক্ষরণ হয় এবং মাটিতে লুটিয়ে পড়েন। ঘটনার পর অভিযুক্ত রঘুনাথ মালিক ঘটনাস্থল ত্যাগ করে পালিয়ে যায়।
পরবর্তীতে স্থানীয় লোকজন আহত ব্যক্তিকে রক্তাক্ত অবস্থায় উদ্ধার করে এবং হাসপাতালে নিয়ে গেলে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক তাকে মৃত বলে ঘোষণা করেন।,
উপরোক্ত ঘটনার পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে মগরাহাট থানায় একটি মামলা রুজু হয়, যার কেস নং 289/23, ধারা 304 (ii) আই পি সি অনুযায়ী।এবং কেসটি এস আই পার্থ প্রতিম সিং এর তত্ত্বাবধানে তদন্ত শুরু হয়। তদন্তকারী অফিসার তদন্তের শেষে উক্ত মামলায় চার সিট নির্ধারিত সময়ের মধ্যে সংশ্লিষ্ট কোটে জমা করেন।
পরবর্তীতে, উক্ত মামলা ডায়মন্ড হারবার পুলিশ জেলার ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্তৃপক্ষ ট্রায়াল মনিটরিং এর মাধ্যমে এবং পি পি ইন-চার্জ কামাল হাসান সা এর তত্ত্বাবধানে ডায়মন্ড হারবার ফাস্ট ট্রাক ফোর্থ বিচারক শ্রী অনিরুদ্ধ সাহার এজলাসে বিচারকার্য শুরু হয়।
মহামান্য বিচারক বিচারকার্য সম্পন্ন করে প্রায় দুই বছর নয় মাসের মাথায় উক্ত মামলায়, ইং 22/04/2026 তদন্ত এবং সাক্ষীগনের সাক্ষ্যের ভিত্তিতে আদালত অভিযুক্তকে ভারতীয় দণ্ডবিধি ধারা 304 (ii) অনুযায়ী দোষী সাব্যস্ত করে, অভিযুক্তকে (0৮) আট বছরের কারাদণ্ড প্রদান করেছেন ।
এই ঘটনার মাধ্যমে সমাজে একটি দৃষ্টান্তমূলক অপরাধের বার্তা পৌঁছানো প্রয়োজন যে, পিতৃহত্যার মতো গুরুতর অপরাধ কোনোভাবেই ক্ষমাযোগ্য নয় এবং এ ধরনের অপরাধের বিরুদ্ধে কঠোর সামাজিক ও আইনগত অবস্থান গ্রহণ করা জরুরি, যাতে ভবিষ্যতে এ ধরনের ঘটনা পুনরাবৃত্তি না ঘটে।

০৫.০৩.২০২৩ তারিখে রাত প্রায় ৮টা ১৫ মিনিটে, ব্যবসায়ী নিখিল কুমার সাহা দোকান বন্ধ করার সময় অভিযুক্ত তার নিকট চাঁদা দাবি করে। টাকা দিতে অস্বীকার করলে তাকে পরপর গুলি করে গুরুতর জখম করা হয়। এরপর এলাকায় আতঙ্ক সৃষ্টি করতে বোমা বিস্ফোরণ ঘটিয়ে অভিযুক্ত পালিয়ে যায়।

গুরুতর অবস্থায় ভুক্তভোগীকে এসএসকেএম হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। চিকিৎসকদের মতে, শরীরের ভেতরে থাকা গুলি অপসারণ করা সম্ভব হয়নি।
উপরোক্ত ঘটনার প্রেক্ষিতে উস্তি থানায় কেস নং ১১০/২৩ রুজু হয় এবং এসআই আবুল মারজানের তত্ত্বাবধানে তদন্ত শুরু হয়। তদন্তকারী অফিসার নির্ধারিত সময়ের মধ্যে চার্জশিট আদালতে পেশ করেন।

পরবর্তীতে, ডায়মন্ড হারবার পুলিশ জেলার ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্তৃপক্ষ ট্রায়াল মনিটরিং এর মাধ্যমে স্পেশাল পিপি শ্রী বিভাস চ্যাটার্জির তত্ত্বাবধানে ডায়মন্ড হারবার ফাস্ট ট্র্যাক আদালতে মামলার বিচারকার্য শুরু হয়।

প্রায় দীর্ঘ ৩ বছর ১৩ দিনের বিচার প্রক্রিয়া শেষে, ইং ১৯.০৩.২০২৬ তারিখে মহামান্য আদালত তদন্ত, সিসিটিভি ফুটেজ এবং প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীদের সাক্ষ্যের ভিত্তিতে অভিযুক্তকে ভারতীয় দণ্ডবিধি ধারা ৩০৭/৩২৬/৩৮৭/৪৪৮ এবং অস্ত্র আইন ধারা ২৫/২৭ অনুযায়ী দোষী সাব্যস্ত করে অভিযুক্তকে যাবজ্জীবন কারাদণ্ড প্রদান করেছেন।
