𝐇𝐨𝐧’𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐌𝐂𝐋

Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister for Coal & Mines, reviewed the performance of our subsidiary, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), at Bhubaneswar.

At the outset, the Hon’ble Minister interacted with MCL’s women rescue team and commended Coal India for its initiatives in promoting Nari Shakti.

During the review meeting, Shri Reddy assessed the performance of Talcher Fertilizers Limited, a joint venture between Coal India, GAIL, Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited, and Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited.

He emphasized the importance of coal gasification in strengthening India’s energy security. The Minister also highlighted Coal India’s efforts in spearheading India’s coal gasification journey through the establishment of Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited, a joint venture with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, for the development of a Coal-to-Ammonium Nitrate project. He also held an interactive session with various stakeholders on the sidelines of the review meeting.

Shri Reddy also met Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, and discussed various issues related to coal mining and the development of the sector in the state.

Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, Additional Secretary,Ministry of Coal; Our Chairman,Shri B. Sairam;Shri Uday Anant Kaole,CMD,MCL and senior executives of MCL were present on the occasion.

It is noteworthy that Mahanadi Coalfields Limited has set a production target of 220 MT and a supply target of 233 MT for FY 2026–27.

Shri Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India, chaired a review meeting on the reform initiatives of Coal India Limited at our Corporate Office in Kolkata.

The meeting focused on ushering in transformational reforms aimed at enhancing production and productivity through measures such as augmenting coal supplies, improving coal quality, expediting First Mile Connectivity projects, enhancing and optimally utilizing coal washing capacities, giving impetus to coal gasification projects, fast-tracking technological innovations, and implementing cost optimization and expenditure control measures.

Sairam, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Shri Sanjeev Kumar Kassi, our Director (HR), Dr. Vinay Ranjan; Director (Marketing), Shri Mukesh Choudhary; Director (Finance), Shri Mukesh Agrawal; Director (Technical), Shri Achyut Ghatak; Director (Business Development), Shri Asheesh Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer, Shri Brajesh Kumar Tripathy and senior officials were present in the meeting.

India is transforming the future of coal through coal gasification, converting a traditional resource into cleaner fuels, value-added chemicals, and new economic opportunities, while advancing cleaner coal technologies to create an energy-secure and self-reliant India.

During his keynote address at the Roadshow on Promotion of Surface Coal & Lignite Gasification Projects, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal and Mines Shri G Kishan Reddy described Coal Gasification as the need of the hour for strengthening India’s energy security, industrial growth, Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the vision of Viksit Bharat under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He stated that the Rs 8,500 crore Incentive Scheme launched in 2024 had received an encouraging response, and building on this momentum, the Union Cabinet has now approved a larger incentive support of Rs 37,500 crore expected to mobilise investments of nearly Rs 2.5 lakh crore, generate significant employment opportunities and create a new industrial value chain in the country.

Shri Reddy emphasised that Coal Gasification will help create reliable domestic feedstock for fertilizers, chemicals, petrochemicals, hydrogen and transport fuels while reducing import dependence, enhancing energy security and strengthening India’s industrial resilience amid evolving global economic conditions and changing supply chain dynamics. He further highlighted that the scheme remains technology-agnostic, allowing project developers to bring commercially proven technologies from any part of the world without restrictions, and called upon Ministries, State Governments, industry leaders, startups, researchers and technology partners to actively participate in advancing India’s clean coal conversion ecosystem and the vision of Viksit Bharat.

कोयला मंत्रालय द्वारा नई दिल्ली में आयोजित सतही कोयला/लिग्नाइट गैसीकरण परियोजनाओं पर रोडशो में माननीय कोयला एवं खान राज्य मंत्री श्री सतीश चंद्र दुबे ने कहा कि स्वीकृत कोयला गैसीकरण प्रोत्साहन स्कीम भारत की ऊर्जा सुरक्षा, औद्योगिक विकास और आत्मनिर्भरता की दिशा में एक ऐतिहासिक कदम है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत के विशाल घरेलू कोयला संसाधनों का स्वच्छ, स्मार्ट और मूल्यवर्धित उपयोग समय की आवश्यकता है, ताकि LNG, यूरिया, मेथनॉल, अमोनिया, अमोनियम नाइट्रेट और कोकिंग कोल जैसे आयातित उत्पादों पर निर्भरता कम की जा सके। उन्होंने कहा कि हमारा देश ऊर्जा के भविष्य को नई दिशा देते हुए आत्मनिर्भर और विकसित भारत की ओर तेज़ी से आगे बढ़ रहा है।

उन्होंने कहा कि ₹8,500 करोड़ की पूर्व कोयला गैसीकरण प्रोत्साहन स्कीम को उद्योग जगत से उत्साहजनक प्रतिक्रिया मिली थी, जिसके अनुभव और बढ़ती भागीदारी को देखते हुए अब ₹37,500 करोड़ की व्यापक नई स्कीम को मंजूरी दी गई है। यह स्कीम पात्र परियोजनाओं को वित्तीय सहायता, दीर्घकालिक कोयला आपूर्ति की सुनिश्चितता तथा सार्वजनिक एवं निजी क्षेत्र की भागीदारी हेतु पारदर्शी ढांचा प्रदान करेगी। उन्होंने कहा कि यह पहल न केवल आयात बिल और विदेशी मुद्रा व्यय को कम करेगी, बल्कि कोयला-समृद्ध एवं आर्थिक रूप से पिछड़े क्षेत्रों में बड़े पैमाने पर निवेश, रोजगार सृजन और औद्योगिक विकास को भी गति देगी तथा भारत को स्वच्छ, सुरक्षित, आत्मनिर्भर और भविष्य के लिए तैयार ऊर्जा एवं औद्योगिक अर्थव्यवस्था की दिशा में आगे ले जाएगी।

भारत का कोयला क्षेत्र अब केवल ऊर्जा का स्रोत नहीं, बल्कि राष्ट्र की आर्थिक शक्ति, औद्योगिक प्रगति और आत्मनिर्भर भारत का मजबूत आधार बनता जा रहा है।
