🌿 A team of scientists from ICAR-Mahatma Gandhi Integrated Farming Research Institute interacted with farmers and emphasized the importance of balanced use of fertilizers for maintaining soil health and improving sustainable crop productivity. 🌾
During the programme, farmers were advised to adopt Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) practices through the use of biofertilizers, vermicompost, green manuring, and crop residue recycling to reduce excessive dependency on chemical fertilizers. 🌱
The team also highlighted the benefits of including legume crops in cropping systems for improving soil fertility, nutrient-use efficiency, and long-term agricultural sustainability.

🌿 National Campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilizers 🌿
As part of the nationwide campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilizers, ICAR-Mahatma Gandhi Integrated Farming Research Institute organized an awareness programme involving Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Jeevika Didis, progressive farmers, and other stakeholders. 🌾
The programme focused on promoting balanced nutrient management, Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), soil-test-based fertilizer application, and the use of biofertilizers, vermicompost, green manuring, and crop residue recycling. Participants were sensitized on reducing excessive dependency on chemical fertilizers while improving soil health, crop productivity, and environmental sustainability. 🌱
The initiative aimed to strengthen community awareness and encourage the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices for resilient and profitable farming systems.
