The Consulate General had the distinct privilege of hosting the solemn ceremony for the conferment of the prestigious title of 𝗞𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆 upon Dr. Luca Bottazzi—a recognition directly bestowed by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the proposal of Consul General Walter Ferrara.

This high honor celebrates Dr. Bottazzi’s exceptional service to the Italian Republic and his unwavering commitment to strengthening the bonds between Italy and India, while also underscoring Pune’s industrial district as a thriving hub for Italian trade, industry and innovation. 🇮🇹🇮🇳

Consul General Walter Ferrara officially inaugurated a new meeting room at the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai — a space designed to foster dialogue, collaboration, and stronger partnerships.

The event was attended by members of “Team Italia” in Mumbai,
reflecting the shared commitment to promoting Italian excellence and deepening Italy–India relations.

Consul General Walter Ferrara was honored to participate as Chief Guest in the opening ceremony of the Model United Nations Conference at Government Law College Mumbai

Consul General addressed the students, reflecting on the essential role of accountability in modern diplomacy. He highlighted how transparency, responsibility, and trust are fundamental pillars in building credible international relations and fostering meaningful cooperation among nations.

Engaging with bright and motivated young minds, the Consul General emphasized the importance of ethical leadership and the responsibility future leaders carry in shaping a more just and cooperative global order.

The Consulate commends the students and organizers for creating a platform that encourages dialogue, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of global governance.

From 14 to 16 April 2026, Consul General Walter Ferrara led a high-stakes mission in Pune under the guidance of H.E. Antonio Enrico Bartoli, Italy’s Ambassador to India and Nepal. With a senior delegation from the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi and the representatives of “Team Italy” in India steering the mission, the visit to Pune highlighted that Italy is moving beyond traditional diplomacy into hands-on economic partnership.

♨️The next visit was at 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗶 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝘃𝘁. 𝗟𝘁𝗱. with Dr. Carlo Migliardi , leader in heating and heat treating system in the steel industry.

The following day, the Consul General and the Ambassador took part in an 𝑰𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒚-𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒗𝒆 🇮🇹🇮🇳
co-organized by the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce—a key nerve center for bilateral trade and investment.

But the real momentum came from factory-floor diplomacy: visits to

🍫𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 (with MD Dr. Hamid Touil) and
🛵 𝗣𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 in Baramati (with CEO Dr. Diego Graffi),

where in food processing and engineering met India’s scale and ambition.

A strategic meeting with Pune’s Municipal Commissioner, Shri Naval Kishor Ram, reinforced institutional trust at the local level.

Consul General Walter Ferrara carried out an official mission to Daman and Umbergaon, reinforcing Italy’s engagement across the Mumbai consular jurisdiction.

The visit focused on deepening ties with local authorities and key industrial stakeholders, highlighting the strong presence of Italian companies in the region. Discussions emphasized opportunities to expand cooperation in manufacturing, technology, and skill development—where Italian expertise and Indian dynamism create powerful synergies.

A key moment of the mission was the visit to DOMS Industries Ltd. in Umbergaon — part of the RR Fila Group — where Managing Director Santosh Revashia welcomed the Consul General and led a comprehensive tour showcasing innovation and manufacturing excellence.

The mission concluded with a courtesy meeting with the Collector of Daman, Saurabh Mishra, further strengthening institutional ties and regional cooperation.

Consul General Walter Ferrara visited the Kochi–Muziris Biennale , one of Asia’s most important platforms for contemporary art and cultural dialogue, as part of the Consulate’s outreach across the Mumbai consular jurisdiction.🎨🇮🇹🇮🇳

During his visit to Kerala, he met with Thomas Varghese, CEO of the Kochi Biennale Foundation, and toured several exhibition venues across Fort Kochi, including the work of Italian architect Simone Vago at the prestigious Pepper House

The visit provided an opportunity to engage with artists, curators, and cultural stakeholders, while also exploring new avenues of collaboration and strengthening Italy’s presence in the next edition of the Biennale.

Initiatives like the Kochi–Muziris Biennale continue to demonstrate how art fosters dialogue, mutual understanding, and lasting cultural connections between Italy and India.
