The Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency - Mumbai & Italian Trade Agency - New Delhi. , successfully organised the India–Italy Business Forum on 10th & 11th of December in Mumbai.

A key highlight of the forum was the visit of Deputy Prime Minister H.E who was accompanied by a strong 50-member Italian business delegation. The delegation represented priority sectors including , , and SportsTechnologies, reflecting Italy’s keen interest in expanding cooperation with India across high-growth industries.

On 11 December, Mr. , Minister of Commerce and Industry , held a bilateral meeting with DPM Tajani at Mumbai. The discussions focused on ways to increase and diversify bilateral trade and investment, followed by both Ministers jointly chairing the India–Italy Business Forum.
During the visit, several sector-focused business roundtables were organized, covering automotive, agri-food, waste-to-energy and sports technologies. The two Ministers also met with Indian unicorns, engaging in discussions under the India–Italy Innovation Initiative, underscoring the shared commitment to innovation, startups and future-oriented partnerships.
Deputy Prime Minister Tajani emphasized the goal of increasing bilateral trade (target: €20 billion by 2029) and investments, particularly from India towards Italy.

Overall, India–Italy bilateral relations continue a strong upward trajectory, supported by regular high-level engagements, ministerial dialogues, and expanding private-sector collaboration, further reinforcing and diversifying the India–Italy Strategic Partnership. 🇮🇹🤝🇮🇳

Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of current market trends, along with a practical walkthrough of regulatory requirements and market-entry strategies for brands looking to establish a presence in India.
The seminar opened with a welcome address by H.E Walter Ferrara, Consul General of Italy in Mumbai , who emphasized the strong global reputation of Italian cosmetics—built on product quality, craftsmanship, and excellence.

Mr. Alessandro Liberatori - Director of Italian Trade Agency - New Delhi and Coordinator of the Italian Trade Agency for India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were one of the invited dignitaries among other industry stalwarts at the inaugural ceremony. Mr. Liberatori in his speech quoted that, ‘”67 % of the make-up consumed in Europe is produced by Italian companies, globally reaching 55%. In Europe, our country is the third largest cosmetics economic system after Germany and France”. The show kicked off with an impressive turn out of global brands, manufacturers, distributors, and industry professionals.

As a net food exporter, India ranks second in global food production and is the world’s largest producer of many commodities. However, a negligible amount of produce is processed in India. As per a recent study prepared for our office by Infogence Research & Consulting Pvt. Ltd., projections indicate that the Indian Food Processing sector is poised to achieve significant growth, with an estimated value of EUR 646 Bn by 2027. This growth is expected to be driven by a commendable compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 11% over the next few years.
