Our trip to Hampi in 2011 was what got us excited about visiting all UNESCO world heritage sites in 2012. Even after the accolades that Hampi has gotten, it's sad to see a lack of civic responsibility to help preserve something so culturally rich.
Go to Hampi, says NYT. You’ll see a treasure ruined again, with peanuts for restoration – ThePrint Seeing Hampi might also persuade you to accept the idea of involving good corporates to preserve heritage differently. The New York Times tells the world to go to Hampi in India. It is second in its annual list of 52 places to visit worldwide. There is a big, proud and positive buzz in India about ....

From Bhopal, we went to the ever so royal Jaipur. The Amber Fort and Hawa Mahal were places we wanted to see and Daal Bati Choorma was something we really wanted to eat. While Jaipur is surrounded by magnificient forts and palaces, the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory is what made it into the UNESCO world heritage list. It was India's newest addition into the list before the Western Ghats were recently inducted. Do check out what we thought of it.

India have a new addition to its already rich UNESCO world heritage site list. The western Ghats have been added to the list on account of it being a precious biological hotspot, home to many endemic species of plants and animals. On the bright side, this status will ensure a reduction in mining and deforestation activities that could have destroyed the region. But this status will also now increase the attention that these forests are getting and will be subjected to more pressure from tourism which these forests may not be able to handle. Give us your opinion
39 sites in Western Ghats get world heritage status - The Times of India A cluster of 39 sites spread over 7,953.15 sq km in the Western Ghats will now be inscribed in the World Heritage list. These include tiger reserves, national parks, wildlife sanctuaries and reserved forests in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
