For Dr. Chinuu Kwatra, sustainability has always been about people. Through his work with Khushiyaan Foundation | NGO and Beach Warriors™ environmental action becomes an opportunity to bring communities together and create change that goes beyond the environment.

At the Creators & Artists Roundtable at Mumbai Climate Week, he reflected on why community and climate action go hand in hand, a little-known climate fact, and what could make Mumbai a more climate-friendly city.

A year ago, they stood on the stage with an idea.

An idea they had built, tested and believed could change something.

They were the winners of the first MCW Innovation Challenge.

Now, we are meeting them again to hear what happened next, what they learnt along the way and where their ideas are headed.

Climate action can happen beyond policy rooms or at climate conferences.

It can happen when a filmmaker chooses a story, when a journalist asks a different question, when an artist makes an idea visible, or when a creator gets thousands of people thinking about something they had never thought about before.

The Creators & Artists Roundtable was one step towards building that larger community of people who can make climate part of the culture around us.

More conversations, collaborations and ideas are coming up as Mumbai Climate Week builds towards its second edition.

Climate action cannot be built in a day. It needs partnerships that grow and commitments that last.

The five-year MoU between Mumbai Climate Week and MMRDA is an important step to strengthen Mumbai’s climate action journey.

The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Metropolitan Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee, along with other government leaders and industry leaders, including Noel Tata, Anush Shah and Geetanjali Vikram Kirloskar

For Mumbai Climate Week, this is also a sign of what we set out to do: bring people and institutions together, turn conversations into collaboration and create a platform that can keep climate action moving forward.

Five years is a commitment to keep the work going, and we are only getting started.

Who gets a seat at the climate table?

Nadhi-SheforClimate is working to make sure more women do.

As Shalini Bharat, Founder, Nadhi - She for Climate, puts it, the pathways into the climate space are not always clear. Together, we want to help change that.

We are delighted to welcome Nadhi She for Climate as an Ecosystem Partner for MCW 2027, creating more opportunities for women to enter, lead and shape the climate economy.
