In continuation of the plantation drive undertaken in August 2025 in collaboration with the Regional Business Office, State Bank of India (SBI), Babupara, the Nature Club, Haoreibi carried forward its environmental initiative on 14th June 2026 at the Chandranadi riverbank.
The Nature Club expresses its sincere gratitude to the Regional Business Office, SBI, for their support and encouragement towards this noble cause in the previous year.
Emphasizing that the spirit of World Environment Day should extend beyond a single day, the Club organized this activity on 14th June 2026 to reinforce the message that environmental responsibility must be upheld every day. The programme focused on safeguarding planted trees and replacing those that had withered. The initiative witnessed active participation and financial contributions from members of the Nature Club and well-wishers, reflecting a shared commitment to environmental conservation.
The Nature Club also reiterates its appeal to the Government of Manipur to enact a comprehensive “Tree Act” in the state. Such legislation would significantly contribute to the protection of trees and the strengthening of the ecosystem. The Club notes that there have been several instances of violations of forest conservation norms in Manipur.
The construction of unofficial roads, bridges and other infrastructures without proper environmental clearance, highlight the urgent need for stricter regulations and effective enforcement.
The Nature Club earnestly appeals to the State Government to enact the proposed Tree Act at the earliest to ensure sustainable environmental protection, ecological balance, and to contribute towards mitigating global warming.
