Now it's time to welcome our 2nd winner of book review-"Let's Read".We're sharing a para from her writing.

When one thinks of Russian literature, the names that come to mind include Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Chekhov, etc. Their works have stood the test of time but also created a certain perception about what Russia is and what it means to be Russian. In their writings, we find a cold, tough, and often monochromatic Russia, with very little room for the subtle pleasures of life.
With this book, Towles introduces you to a Russia that is unlike anything you’ve possibly read. A Russia of apple trees and honeybees, glorious architecture, and strikingly beautiful artwork. The prose is lyrical and draws you into a world where the old meets the new.
Set in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution, the book traces the story of the newly born Soviet Union. The Tsar has been deposed, the Bolsheviks have seized control and thus with the end of an era, begins the story of our principal character, Count Rostov.

Hello everyone. Can we welcome the winner of the book review-"Let's Read" here? We're posting a glimpse of her review here.

One often assesses a novel by how well it fastens itself to one's memory after he/she completes it. For some people, this allows the novel to surpass its source material and become part of tremendous meaning and movement in society. This novel is an accurate illustration of the aforesaid statement.
A world in which Big Brother is always listening to everything and high-tech devices that can overhear on people's homes (Hey, Alexa, what’s up?) and many social networking sites continuously record the user's private data. Orwell predicted a perfect analogy between the “1984 world” and today's world, except that in the book there's only one big brother but in our world, there are many.
This book is clearly one of the best Nonfiction books that have moved me because of many reasons like the diversity of the characters, the plotline, the rich language, and most importantly the message it exemplifies and the ideologies it articulates. Through Winston's character, Orwell has described freedom as the ability to tell certainly that 2+2=4 and not 5(or any other number). Similarly, the only reason we see something as truth is because of the number of times it's being repeated and the most disturbing part is that it is being repeated in a belief that it's the truth!
