The NIRDPR-National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, through the School of Excellence in Panchayati Raj (SoEPR), conducted the 3-Day Training of Trainers on Preparation of Quality GPDP (Batch-2) from 20–22 May 2026 at Hyderabad.
The programme focused on strengthening the capacities of officials, trainers, and development practitioners in preparing quality Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs) through participatory and evidence-based planning approaches. Sessions highlighted convergence, local governance, resource mapping, community participation, and inclusive rural development planning.
The training provided a platform for knowledge sharing, practical learning, and discussions on improving grassroots planning processes for sustainable and effective Panchayati Raj governance.

The Capacity Building Programme for Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs), jointly organised by the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), NIRDPR-National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, and KILA on 22 May 2026 at KFRI Sub Centre, Chandakkunnu, Nilambur, Kerala, was successfully completed with the participation of around 80 BMC members and local representatives.
The programme covered important themes, including Biodiversity Governance, People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR), Institutional Architecture of the Biological Diversity Act, and Access & Benefit Sharing (ABS) under the BD Act, 2002 and 2023 Amendments. Experts from KFRI, KSBB, NIRDPR, and KILA led technical sessions and discussions to strengthen grassroots biodiversity governance and community participation in conservation.

The programme focused on strengthening gender-responsive approaches in rural livelihood programmes and enhancing the capacities of trainers and practitioners associated with DAY-NRLM initiatives. Sessions covered themes such as gender equality, social inclusion, women’s leadership, institutional strengthening, and community-based approaches for sustainable livelihoods.
The training created an interactive platform for collaborative learning, sharing field experiences, and promoting gender-sensitive implementation strategies for empowering rural communities and women collectives.

The NIRDPR-National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, through the Centre for Wage Employment & Livelihoods (CWEL), conducted a Training of Trainers on the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act 2025 (VB–G RAM G) on 20–21 May 2026 at Hyderabad.
The programme focused on strengthening the capacities of trainers and stakeholders involved in the implementation of rural employment and livelihood initiatives. Sessions highlighted key provisions of the Act, implementation strategies, transparency mechanisms, and approaches for improving rural livelihoods through participatory governance and effective programme delivery.
The training provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, collaborative learning, and enhancing institutional capacities for grassroots rural development initiatives.

The programme focused on strengthening women’s leadership in local governance by enhancing the capacities of trainers working with Panchayati Raj Institutions. The sessions encouraged dialogue on inclusive governance, leadership development, gender-responsive decision-making, and effective participation of women representatives in grassroots institutions.
The training served as an important platform for knowledge sharing, peer learning, and promoting women-led governance initiatives across states and districts.

The NIRDPR-National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, through the Centre for PG Studies and Distance Education, conducted a Training Programme on “Business Diversification Opportunities and Best Practices of Computerisation of PACCSs” for Presidents, Board of Directors, and CEOs of PACCSs and LAMPCSs from 18–22 May 2026.
Sponsored by the Department of Cooperation, Government of Odisha, the programme focused on strengthening cooperative institutions through business diversification, digital transformation, improved governance, and sharing of best practices in computerisation and service delivery.
The programme served as an important platform for capacity building and knowledge exchange, enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of cooperative societies.

NIRDPR-National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, under the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, organized the first batch of the Capacity Building Programme for Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) on 19 May 2026 at KILA-CHRD Campus, Kottarakkara, Kollam, Kerala, with financial support from the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA).
Conducted in collaboration with the KERALA INSTITUTE OF LOCAL ADMINISTRATION (KILA) and Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSBB), and coordinated by the School of Excellence in Panchayati Raj (SoEPR), NIRDPR, the programme focused on strengthening grassroots biodiversity governance and enhancing the institutional capacities of BMCs and Panchayati Raj Institutions.
The training covered important themes, including the Biological Diversity Act, 2002; the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Act, 2023; People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs); Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS); biodiversity conservation; protection of traditional knowledge; and sustainable livelihoods, through participatory, practice-oriented learning methods.
The initiative is part of a series of capacity-building programmes being conducted across Kerala during May 2026.

NIRDPR-National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, with financial support from the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), organized the 2nd batch of the Capacity Building Programme for Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) on 20 May 2026 at Thrissur, Kerala, in collaboration with KILA and KSBB.
The programme was inaugurated by Sri Nizamudin IAS, Director General, KILA, and chaired by Dr P.S. Easa, Former Director, Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI).
The programme focused on strengthening grassroots biodiversity governance and enhancing the capacities of BMCs and Panchayati Raj Institutions. Sessions covered the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Act, 2023, People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs), Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS), traditional knowledge protection, and sustainable livelihoods through participatory and field-oriented learning approaches.
