Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), under the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers Govt. of India, been honoured with the award under the category of “Excellence in Skill Development” in the FICCI Chemicals and Petrochemicals Awards – 2025 , in recognition of its exemplary contribution to the Skill India initiative of the Government of India and its sustained efforts in shaping the lives of unemployed and underemployed youth across the nation.
The award was presented on January 22 2026 by Smt. Anupriya Patel, Hon’ble Minister of State for Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers & Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in the presence of Ms. Nivedita Shukla Verma, Secretary (C&PC), GoI and Sr. officials from DCPC & FICCI.

The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, organized a two-day free residential training programme on “Chemical and Petrochemical Industrial Safety” at the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Jaipur on 15th and 16th January.
The programme was specifically focused on Major Accident Hazard (MAH) units and witnessed the participation of nearly 125 professionals from chemical and petrochemical industries across the country.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Shishir Sinha, Director General, CIPET. Addressing the participants, the Chief Guest stated that under the 100-Day Action Plan of Viksit Bharat @2047, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has accorded top priority to capacity building and safety training in the chemical and petrochemical sector. He emphasized that the initiative reflects the Government of India’s strong commitment towards safety, sustainability, and responsible industrial growth.
Highlighting the vital role of the chemical and petrochemical industry in India’s economic development, he underscored the importance of strengthening safety protocols to safeguard human life and the environment, particularly in industries dealing with hazardous chemicals.

Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT) signed an MoU with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) on 31 December 2025 to promote collaboration in education, research, and student development. The MoU was signed by Prof. M. K. Jha, Principal, MIT, and Dr. Vishal Verma, Director (TSS & BD), CIPET, in the august presence of the Director General, CIPET and other senior officials.
The partnership focuses on joint academic and research activities in petrochemicals, plastics and polymers, chemical engineering, materials science, and emerging technologies. It includes seminars, workshops, faculty development skill programmes, internships, project training, innovation, and placement support.

The IPCL Award for Safety/Hazard Management in the Petrochemical Industry was conferred upon Prof. (Dr.) Shishir Sinha, Director General – CIPET, at IIChE CHEMCON 2025, the 78th Annual Session of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE).

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between CIPET and the IOCL Refineries Head quarters, New Delhi in the presence of Shri Arvind Kumar, Director (Refineries), and Prof. (Dr.) Shishir Sinha, Director General, CIPET; and senior officials from both organizations.
The MoA was signed Dt. 19.11.2025 for providing job oriented Skill Development Residential Training Programs for Underprivileged / Unemployed Youths of the society, across three states; Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Assam including nearby areas of refineries - Mathura, Panipat and Guwahati with a total 280 beneficiaries to be trained.
