The Tamarind Farm Adult Correctional Centre continues to make a positive impact beyond the walls of the institution through its ongoing support of the McAuley Primary School.

Over the year, the facility has undertaken several outreach initiatives, including the renovation of bathroom facilities, landscaping and general beautification activities, and the provision of fresh farm produce to support the nutritional needs of students.

The institution has also recognised and celebrated both teachers and students through special observances for Teachers’ Day and Children’s Day.

These efforts reflect the Department of Correctional Services’ commitment to community partnership, social responsibility, and the promotion of positive relationships between correctional institutions and the communities they serve.

Despite facing tremendous challenges, including the loss of his mother, Mark remained committed to his goals. With guidance from his Probation Officer and a determination to change his life, he successfully completed six CSEC subjects, enrolled in a HEART/NSTA Trust programme, and secured employment in the tourism industry.

Today, Mark serves as a supervisor in the tourism sector, is a devoted husband, a supportive father, and a committed Christian. His story demonstrates that rehabilitation works when individuals are given the support, opportunity, and determination to change.

The Department of Correctional Services believes in second chances. Through rehabilitation, lives are transformed, families are reunited, and communities are strengthened.
