The Philippine Consulate General in Osaka joins the nation in celebrating National Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Awareness Week, observed every third week of October pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 472, series of 2003.

With the theme “Awareness and Beyond: Empowering Families, Schools and Communities for ADHD,” let us turn awareness into action by promoting understanding, inclusion, and support for persons with ADHD in our homes, schools, and communities.

Senator Rizal Film Club's September feature is “Mga Bag-ong Nawong sang Damgo kag Katingalahan” (The New Faces of Dreams and Mysteries), directed by Mark Raymund Garcia.

In light of Nunelucio “Nune” Alvarado’s recent recognition as a National Artist for Visual Arts, this month’s feature offers a timely opportunity to revisit the artistic vision of one of the Philippines’ foremost practitioners of Social Realism. Alvarado is known for his evocative depictions of the lives and struggles of marginalized communities, particularly the sakadas or sugar plantation workers of Negros Occidental. In his visual language, masks serve not only as a distinctive artistic motif but also as powerful symbols of resilience, estrangement, and the human condition.

Osaka City, 18 October 2026. The Philippine Consulate General in Osaka conducted “Kuwadrong Pinoy,” a Smartphone Photography Workshop for its personnel. With its title evoking the idea of framing stories, the workshop aimed to strengthen personnel’s skills in documenting the Consulate General’s activities and engagements through photography.

Participants explored photography fundamentals, including the rule of thirds, leading lines, negative space, lighting, and framing. They learned how choices in angle, perspective, and composition can produce clearer and more engaging photographs. Personnel can apply these techniques when covering the Consulate General’s events and activities.

A photography challenge concluded the workshop, putting participants’ learning into practice and reinforcing the value of building documentation skills across the team. The workshop was held in partnership with Black Panja Studios, a Filipino-led photography studio owned by Filipino couple John Ryan N. Orpiano and Pinky Z. Orpiano. END.

Mga kababayan sa Osaka at mga karatig na lugar, makilahok sa Regional Overseas Voter Education and Information Dissemination activities ng DFA-Overseas Voting Secretariat, COMELEC-Office for Overseas Voting PH, at Philippine Consulate General in Osaka!

Gaganapin ito sa 14 at 15 Nobyembre 2026 sa 29th Floor, TWIN21 MID Tower (TKP Conference Room 29C), 2-1-61 Shiromi Chuo-ku, Osaka, Japan.

May onsite overseas voter registration sa mga sumusunod na araw:

• 14 November, Sabado: 9:00 AM hanggang 5:00 PM
• 15 November, Linggo: 9:00 AM hanggang 1:00 PM

Kurume City, 11 October 2026. Food Truck Alvar Lechon House has been consistently present at Pistang Pilipino events since its inaugural series held in Sakai City in Osaka in June 2025. Alvar Lechon House sells lechon pork belly (suckling pork belly) and other pork and chicken barbeque products. Its signature product lechon belly is prepared and cooked on the spot so that the public may see and witness the cooking process.

Alvar Lechon House is owned by the Alvar couple who are originally from Davao Oriental and moved to Nagoya City in Japan in 1999. While working as a welder, husband Dondon said that the family started the lechon belly on a trial basis and first sold them to their friends to try their products. Over the years, husband and wife Dondon and Arlene Alvar improved the cooking preparation of their lechon belly and other products and started selling them online. Thereafter, they started joining events in Aichi Prefecture and neighboring prefectures selling their lechon belly and other barbeque products.

In 2023, the couple got their license to operate a food truck in Japan. Husband Dondon decided to resign from his job after working for ten years and spent full time operating the Alvar Lechon House Food Truck. With their food truck business, they brought lechon belly closer to the Filipinos by attending many festivals organized by the Filipino Community.

The Alvar Lechon House joined the inaugural Pistang Pilipino sa Sakai in Osaka in June 2025 organized by One Network Company Ltd. with the support of the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka. Since then, Alvar Lechon House has been a consistent partner of the Pistang Pilipino brand owned by One Network Company Limited. During Pistang Pilipino events, the Alvar Lechon House employs Filipinos as part-time workers.

When asked about his secret to the success of Alvar Lechon House, husband Dondon admitted that he and his wife have no formal training in culinary arts but their experience in running a business over decades has taught them to get the people’s trust in their products a priority. Dondon said that they already have a great number of repeat customers, both Filipinos and Japanese, who inspired them to keep on improving and maintaining the quality of their lechon belly and other products.
