フィリピン出身のアンソニーさんは、日本の高い農業研究水準とフィリピンとの協力関係に魅力を感じ、JICA長期研修で来日しました。東京大学では、高温ストレスに弱い日本の主要稲品種がなぜ影響を受けるのかを遺伝子レベルで研究し、将来の品種改良への応用を目指しています。来日直後は日本語の壁に苦労しましたが、大学のサポートや文化イベントを通して生活に慣れ、日本の四季や伝統も楽しんでいます。修了後はフィリピンに戻り、学んだ技術を若手研究者と共有し、日本と協力して気候変動に強い稲作づくりへの貢献を目指します。

＞＞JICA長期研修員とは、JICAの支援で開発途上国から日本の大学の修士課程・博士課程に在籍し、帰国後に母国の発展に重要な知見を発揮することを使命に、勉学に励んでいる方々のことです！

Mr. TALAVERA Mel Anthony from the Philippines is a PhD student at the University of Tokyo. Through the JICA program, he studies why major Japanese rice varieties are vulnerable to heat stress, using biotechnology to support future breeding. Although he first struggled with the language, support at the university and cultural activities helped him adjust. After returning home, he hopes to share what he learned with young researchers and strengthen Japan–Philippines collaboration to improve climate-resilient rice farming.

【学びを自国へ！サイバーセキュリティ人材育成の10日間】
課題別研修「サイバー攻撃防御演習」に、10か国から16名が集まり、10日間にわたる研修に参加しました。研修員は、サイバー攻撃から組織や社会を守るための知識や技術を実践形式で学びました。攻撃者の手法を実際に体験しながら、その仕組みを理解するとともに、攻撃の痕跡を調査して原因を突き止める方法も学びました。朝から夕方まで演習が続くハードな日程でしたが、全員が最後まで取り組み、無事に修了することができました。最終日の発表では、それぞれが自国で直面しているサイバーセキュリティの課題を共有し、帰国後に取り組む具体的な計画を発表しました。講師陣も研修員から多くのことを学ぶ貴重な機会となりました。研修員からは、「帰国したらまず、サイバー攻撃に対応する専門チームを立ち上げたい」、「この研修で学んだことを職場の仲間にも伝えたい」といった前向きな発言がありました。こうした言葉こそが、この研修の価値を実感する瞬間です。今回の学びが各国で活かされることを期待します。

【Bringing Knowledge Home: 10 Days of Cybersecurity Capacity Building】
Sixteen participants from ten countries joined the JICA KCCP “Defense Practice Against Cyber Attacks” and took part in a 10-day training program in Japan. Through hands-on exercises, participants learned practical knowledge and skills to protect organizations and society from cyberattacks. They experienced attack techniques firsthand and learned how to investigate digital evidence to identify the causes of incidents. Despite the demanding schedule, all participants successfully completed the program. On the final day, participants shared cybersecurity challenges in their countries and presented action plans for after their return home. The program was also a valuable learning opportunity for the instructors. Participants commented:
“The first thing I want to do when I get home is establish a CSIRT.”
“I want to share what I learned with my team.”
We hope the knowledge gained during these 10 days will contribute to strengthening cybersecurity capacity in each participant’s country.

JICA東京では、課題別研修「首都圏におけるスタートアップ・エコシステム構築発展」を実施しました。
2026年7月12日から8月1日までの来日研修を中心に、14か国16名の行政官、大学関係者らが参加し、日本におけるスタートアップ支援やエコシステム形成の取組について学びました。東京や埼玉等の首都圏の他、地方都市の取り組みを学ぶために長野も訪れ、講義や関係機関との意見交換を通じて、自国での政策立案や今後の連携について理解を深めました。

JICA Tokyo conducted the Knowledge Co-Creation Program, “Enhancement of Startup Ecosystem in Metropolitan Area.”
The program brought together 16 participants, including government officials and university representatives from 14 countries. Centered on an in-person program held from July 12 to August 1, 2026, participants learned about Japan’s approaches to startup support and ecosystem development.
In addition to visits and study sessions in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area, including Tokyo and Saitama prefecture, participants also visited Nagano prefecture to learn about startup ecosystem initiatives in regional cities. Through lectures and discussions with a wide range of stakeholders, they deepened their understanding of policy development and future collaboration opportunities in their respective countries.

＼🥕🍅8月31日は「野菜の日」！ブータンで広がるオーガニック野菜づくりをご紹介します🍆🥬 ／ *Please scroll down for the English version.

有限会社サン・スマイルは、JICA草の根技術協力事業を通じて、ブータンで化学肥料や農薬を使わず、自然の力を活かして作物を育てるオーガニック栽培技術の普及に取り組んでいます。

ブータンは国として農業の100％オーガニック化を目指していますが、オーガニック栽培技術の普及体制が十分でないことや、付加価値をつけて販売されていないことなど、いくつかの課題があります。

本事業では、チャナチェン村をモデル地域として、低投入型オーガニック栽培の技術向上と安定販売を支援し、農家の所得向上を目指しています。

日本で培われた技術や経験が、ブータンの農家の皆さんの暮らしを支え、持続可能な農業の発展につながることを願っています！

Sun Smile Co., Ltd. is working with the JICA Partnership Project to share organic farming practices with farmers in Bhutan.
These methods help farmers grow crops by making the most of nature, without using chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
Bhutan aims to become a 100% organic farming nation, but challenges remain, such as limited opportunities for farmers to learn organic farming techniques and difficulties in adding value to and marketing their products.
Through this project, Chanachen Village serves as a model community where farmers are learning low-input organic farming methods and gaining better access to stable markets. These efforts help farmers increase their incomes and improve their daily lives.

We hope that the knowledge and experience gained in Japan will support Bhutanese farmers and contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for agriculture in Bhutan.

国連アジア太平洋統計研修所（SIAP）および総務省と共に実施した、「持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）のモニタリングのための公的統計の理論と実務」研修プログラムでは、9か国 の政府職員が参加し、統計データの収集・分析・活用を学び、持続可能な開発に向けた知見を深めました。
本プログラムで得られた知識や経験が、参加者の国における政策立案や行政運営の改善に活かされ、人々の暮らしの向上につながることを期待しています。📈🌱

🌏Successful Completion of the Knowledge Co-Creation Program 📊

Reliable data helps governments better understand issues and make informed decisions for the future.
From 11 May to 14 August 2026, JICA, in collaboration with the United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan (MIC), conducted "Training Programme on Theory and Practices in Official Statistics for Monitoring SDGs" for government officials from 9 countries to strengthen their skills in collecting, analyzing, and using statistical data. Through online sessions, lectures in Japan, group discussions, and a field trip to Shiga Prefecture, participants learned how data can support better public services and sustainable development.
We hope the knowledge and experiences gained through this program will contribute to improving people's lives in the participants' home countries.
