URWASCO board seeks National Treasury’s support for water infrastructure upgrades According to the URWASCO board of directors, the proposed upgrades are expected to boost operational efficiency, expand service coverage.

Uasin Gishu Rural Water and Sanitation Company (URWASCO) has elected Mr. Pius Kigen as its new Board Chair, marking a key step as the company becomes fully operational.

Operating under Nguzo 7 of the county development agenda, URWASCO is mandated to manage and sustain peri-urban and rural water projects—ensuring residents access clean, safe, and affordable water and sanitation services.

The meeting was chaired by County Secretary Mr. Philip Matelong, who emphasized water’s vital role in public health, environmental conservation, and economic growth in line with Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s development blueprint.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Kigen pledged diligent service and commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable water services to the people of Uasin Gishu.
