David Munyua is a 30-year-old full-time veterinarian and part-time darts player from Murangโa. Just three years ago, he had never thrown a dart. One day, while enjoying a drink at a bar with a friend, the friend stepped up to play darts. Munyua thought it looked fun, joined inโand that moment sparked a journey he never imagined.
The next day, he bought his own dartboard and began practising. With time, he kept improving, and the same friend encouraged him to take part in small local tournaments. Munyua agreedโnot with dreams of the PDC or the World Championship, but for the friendships, sportsmanship, and love of the game.
Today, he stands as Africaโs top darts player. After winning the African World qualifiers, he earned the chance to represent the continent at the PDC World Darts Championship.
In his latest match, Munyua faced World No. 18, De Decker. Before the game, he said, โIn sport, no one is guaranteed a win, so I will give it everything.โ He went two sets down against the Belgian, but giving up was never an option. His goal was clear: to show the world that Africa has immense talent.
Munyua fought back brilliantly to secure a stunning 3โ2 victory in the closing momentsโone of the biggest upsets in darts history. If you watched the match, you surely felt the excitement.
Kenya to the world. Africa to the world.
Dare to dream.
