The Embu County Government, through the Department of Roads and Public Works, has conducted technical inspections of road maintenance projects in Gaturi North and Gaturi South wards in Runyenjes Constituency.
In Gaturi North Ward, the technical team inspected the maintenance works on the Kianjokoma Kamugere Njumbiri Kevote road. The scope of works included gravelling, murraming, compacting, and installation of an 8 metre culvert with a diameter of 600mm. Residents welcomed the project, noting that the road had previously become impassable, especially during the rainy season.
The committee unanimously confirmed that the works were satisfactorily completed in accordance with the contract specifications and the Bill of Quantities.
In Kyeni South Ward, the technical team also inspected maintenance works on the Kasafari Karurumo road. The project involved grading, murraming sections of the road, and hand packing at Iriviro area, which had experienced persistent water flooding challenges. The hand packing works are expected to improve accessibility and ensure the road remains passable during the rainy season.

The Embu County Government, through the Department of Roads, Public Works, Transport, Energy and Logistics, has handed over the graveling and murraming projects for KithegiโNebure (KauriroโMvangua) and RukiraโKivwe Police Station (NebureโKaringari) roads in Gaturi South Ward, Manyatta Constituency.
The works will include bush clearing, culvert installation, grading, murraming and compaction to improve accessibility and ease transportation of farm produce in the largely agricultural area.
The site handover was led by CECM for Roads, Public Works, Transport, Energy and Logistics Mr Francis Ndwiga alongside CECM for Finance Prof . Joe Kamaria, accompanied by the technical team.
County officials assured residents that the projects will be implemented to the required standards to enhance connectivity and support economic activities in the area.

The Embu County Government has launched the installation of 30 high-capacity solar street lights under the Embu County Energy Plan to enhance security, improve visibility, and reduce electricity costs through renewable energy.
The project targets key areas in across the County. The solar lights are equipped with automatic sensors and can operate for 15 -18 hours once fully charged.
The initiative underscores the county governmentโs commitment to sustainable and cost-effective infrastructure development.

This program aims to equip youth with practical, market-relevant digital competencies, enhance access to digital government services, and prepare them for emerging digital opportunities.

A joint team comprising technical officers, inspection and acceptance teams, and the contractor conducted a site inspection of the Muchagori Tarmac Phase II project, currently being upgraded to bitumen standard.
The teams confirmed progress on key stages including subgrade preparation, subbase works, and stabilization. Ongoing works include culvert installation, stone pitching, and drainage works.
The inspection is part of routine supervision to ensure quality standards, value for money, and adherence to contractual requirements. The contractor has been directed to implement all recommendations and strengthen quality assurance measures, especially following recent weather challenges that affected some sections of the works.
The County Government remains committed to delivering durable and high-quality road infrastructure that supports improved connectivity and development across Embu County.

Embu County hosted the WEEK III stakeholder forum, bringing together partners and women entrepreneurs to review progress in clean energy enterprises.
Supported by Practical Action, over 120 women have been trained and are now earning sustainable livelihoods in the sector.
Opening the forum, Energy Director Mary Murigo praised the strong partnerships driving the countyโs energy agenda and called for continued collaboration.
Stakeholders including MSEA, Women Enterprise Fund, Kingdom Bank and local entrepreneurs shared experiences and solutions, strengthening efforts to expand inclusive clean energy across Embu.
