Our team recently visited South East Alego Ward- Siaya County to engage Member of County Assembly, Hon. Scholastica Masidis Owoko to explore a shared vision for extending our circular innovation hub beyond Kisumu through proposed rural innovation hub with a pilot focus on glass and textile recycling set to begin in 2026.

As part of this collaboration, we entrusted the MCA’s office with a sewing machine laying the groundwork for a series of capacity-building workshops and circular skills trainings.

As we step into the new year, we are excited to see this journey unfold.

Theatre Thursday - ‘It’s NAAM’🎭

As part of the 6th NAAM Festival & 10-Year Anniversary edition, we hosted a moving theatre performance staged at the Ziwani Amphitheater in partnership with .

‘It’s NAAM’ delivered a striking monologue from the perspective of Nam Lolwe itself, asking us what we are giving back, how we are protecting it and what future we imagine for the lake and its people. This artistic intervention portrays how creative expressions can be a profound catalyst for environmental awareness and community responsibility.

A huge appreciation to all the performers and everyone who engaged in this dialogue.

at the NAAM Festival 6th and 10-Year Anniversary Edition🎉

BoaTalk carved out a moment of deep cultural reflection. The session explored the nyatiti—not just as an instrument, but as a keeper of history, ceremony and community belonging among the Lakeside people.

Legendary nyatiti player took us through its journey: the stories of the custodians who passed it down, the myths that shaped how it was played, the pride and discipline it required and the changing realities threatening the sustainability of indigenous arts today.

Participants engaged in heartfelt conversations on the future imagining a world where more young musicians take up the nyatiti, where cultural knowledge is preserved with intention and where the arts remain central to community identity.

BoaTalk reaffirmed NAAM’s commitment to cultural preservation and what we are doing with project. It reminded us that the nyatiti, like many indigenous practices, survives only when communities choose to protect, teach and celebrate it.

Here’s to a future where its sound continues to echo—boldly, beautifully and through new generations. 🎶

And just like that, NAAM Festival 2025 comes to a close.

For Four days, we hosted music, dialogue, film, youth voices and community power — all woven into one unforgettable edition.

Thank you to every partner, artists, volunteers, vendors and community member who made this festival come alive.

Here’s to the next decade of creativity, climate justice and culture along the shores of Nam Lolwe and beyond. 🌊✨
