The recent completion of Public Relations and Customer Care Course No. 22/2026 and Supervisory Skills Development Course No. 69/2026 provided an important reminder of the value of continuous professional development.

In today’s public service environment, technical competence alone is not enough. Professionals must also be able to communicate effectively, understand the people they serve, lead with empathy, manage teams responsibly and adapt to changing expectations.

Good customer care builds trust.
Effective supervision builds capable teams.
Continuous learning builds professionals who are ready to respond to emerging challenges.

For this reason, the impact of training should not end when participants leave the classroom. It should be visible in the quality of decisions they make, the way they treat colleagues and clients, the standards they uphold and the services they deliver.

As institutions invest in developing their people, every professional has an equally important responsibility: to turn learning into practice and practice into measurable improvement.

Congratulations to the two cohorts on completing their programmes. May the knowledge gained become a catalyst for better leadership, stronger workplace relationships and more responsive public service.

The ultimate return on training is not the certificate—it is the positive change that follows.

“Learning becomes meaningful when it moves from the classroom into the decisions we make, the people we lead, and the public service we deliver.”

Today, we brought Senior Management Course No. 158/2026 to a close after four weeks of intensive learning, projects, assignments and examinations.

As a Campus, we are on a continuous journey to empower public service through knowledge, leadership and practical learning. Every programme is an opportunity to strengthen the people entrusted with leading institutions and serving the public.

I challenged the participants to go beyond acquiring knowledge—to apply it, share it and translate it into better decisions, stronger teams and improved service delivery.

The classroom may have a closing day, but the journey of learning, leadership and service continues.

Congratulations to the SMC 158/2026 cohort. May the knowledge gained here become a catalyst for positive change wherever your leadership takes you.

Together, we continue the journey of empowering public service.

The true value of capacity building lies in translating knowledge and skills into improved workplace performance and service delivery. As the Immigration Officers return to their duty stations, I encourage them to uphold integrity, professionalism and accountability while sharing their learning to strengthen institutional capacity.

The Management of Child Protection Services Cohort No. 2/2026 is officially underway at the Kenya School of Government, Matuga Campus.

I had the pleasure of joining Ms. Marygorret Mogaka, HSC, Director in the State Department for Children Services, and Mr. Mwai Karanja from UNICEF during the official opening of the programme.

In her remarks, Ms. Mogaka emphasized professionalism, empathy and dignity in child protection, encouraging participants to actively engage in discussions, share practical experiences and uphold the highest standards in serving and protecting children.

Effective child protection goes beyond professional skills; it calls for empathy, compassion and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding every child's dignity and rights.

I wish the cohort a fruitful and impactful learning experience as we continue strengthening capacity for more responsive, compassionate and effective child protection services.

Today, I witnessed another exciting week of learning beyond the classroom as SLDP No. 560/2026 participants immersed themselves in Experiential Learning, transforming leadership lessons into practical experiences and real-life insights.

As I reminded participants during the opening, “The best lessons are those we experience, not just hear.”Experiential Learning challenges us to step beyond theory, reflect on our experiences and translate knowledge into practical leadership skills.

I was also pleased to officially open Public Relations & Customer Care No. 22/2026 and Supervisory Skills Development Course No. 69/2026, both two-week programmes. I encouraged the officers to make the most of every learning opportunity and share their experiences with colleagues.

Ultimately, our goal is to translate learning into improved competencies, positive attitude change and better service delivery.

Today, SLDP 552/2026 concluded their final module, 'Values and Character Development,' marking the end of yet another impactful learning journey at the Kenya School of Government–Matuga Campus.

It has been a privilege to witness this cohort learn, grow, reflect, and build lasting professional relationships throughout their time at the Campus.

As they embark on the next chapter of their careers, I encourage them to carry forward the values, lessons and experiences gained along the way and continue making a positive difference wherever they serve.

Congratulations, SLDP 552/2026. Go challenge yourself. Go make a difference.

Two impactful learning journeys have come to an end at KSG Matuga Campus—the Supervisory Skills Development Course Cohort 67/2026 and the Induction Programme for officers from the Pest Control Products Board.

As I officially closed the programmes, I reminded the participants that learning becomes meaningful when it is translated into better performance, stronger leadership and improved service delivery.

I also encouraged them to remain ambassadors of the Campus, nurture the networks built, and use their knowledge to create positive impact in their workplaces and communities.

The SSDC Cohort further demonstrated that true leadership goes beyond the workplace, through their CSR initiative of donating sanitary towels to girls at Matuga Primary School.

Congratulations to both cohorts. Learn. Lead. Serve. Make an impact.

Today, I had the opportunity to welcome officers from the Pest Control Products Board to the Campus for their Induction Training Programme, as we also commenced the Experiential Learning Week for the Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) Cohort 551/2026.
These two programmes, though serving different stages of professional development, speak to one important principle: learning must ultimately translate into better leadership and better service.
During the induction programme, I encouraged the officers to take full advantage of the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and skills, share experiences and build professional networks that will support their growth and effectiveness in the public service.

For the SLDP participants, the experiential week provides an opportunity to move beyond theory. Through challenges, reflection, debriefing sessions and excursions, participants are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, discover their strengths and turn experience into leadership insight.

I believe some of the most valuable lessons in leadership are found not only in what we are taught, but in what we experience, how we respond to challenges, and what we learn from reflection.

Leadership is learned, experienced, and continuously refined.**
