The Ministry of Trade, Enterprise Development, Gender and Youth Affairs appeared before The Budget & Appropriations Committee on the fourth day of consultative Engagement with the County Departments on the Turkana County Budget Estimates for FY 2024/2025.

AROO AND TURKANA SOUTH WEEKEND ENGAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT.

CECM Ministry of Trade David Erukudi in the company of CECM Ministry of Lands Peter Akono on Saturday attended the launch and Fundraiser for Lobokat Ward CDDC Cooperative Sacco in Kainuk, Aroo Sub County.

Supporting Saccos is among the transformation and development agenda of H.E Governor Lomorukai.Cooperative Societies improve the quality of trade within an area by availing loans to the small and medium traders or enterprises.

On Friday during the burial of Mr. Johnson Akeno Kalotum, they rallied support for Governor Napotikan, and dismissed political sideshows meant to disrupt service delivery to the people of Turkana.

On Sunday at Shiloh Worship Centre in Lokichar they asked the church for their prayers to our Governor and the government of Turkana and Kenya, in a prayer presided by Bishop Boniface Muyage.

In the project assessment of Lokichar Fresh Produce Market, CEC Erukudi appreciated the renovation of the market which needs to be used as soon as possible. To prevent vandalism, the CEC observed that the market needs a perimeter wall fence.

In the old Public Works site where there is a need for an additional market in Lokichar, CEC Akono assessed the site and will engage with the relevant stakeholders to give the suitability of the site and get work underway.

In enabling the Governor's nine point agenda, trade activities from the county and partners is a concerted effort to drive economic development.

*Honourable Erukudi recognized as the best CECM in Rift Valley*

The County Executive for Trade, Hon. David Erukudi was honored today as the best County Executive in Rift Valley, during a colourful ceremony held at Sarova Hotel in Nakuru.

The event brought together Governors, Senators, MPs, County Executives, Chief Officers, and MCAs who had been recognized as best performing by the Pollster Rankings Company in 2023.

Among the other leaders from Turkana who were acknowledged as top performers in various roles were Turkana Central MP Hon. Emathe Namuar, Township MCA Hon. Ruth Kuya, and County Chief Officer for Vocational Training John Korikel.

CECM Erukudi credited his achievement to the trust from H.E Governor Lomorukai and the support from his colleagues at the County Government of Turkana.

In self dedication to the service of the people of Turkana County and spot on advice to H.E Governor Jeremiah Ekamais Lomorukai on matters development made me to be ranked the best CECM in August - October 2023 Pollster Rankings. This year March we will be celebrating the valuable award. I wouldn't have become the best with you the colleagues and Turkana people. Thank you.

In the recent cabinet reshuffle done by H.E Governor Jeremiah Ekamais Lomorukai Napotikan, I was moved from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries to the Ministry of Trade, Cooperatives, Gender and Youth Affairs.

I would like to apprentice the effort of my team in Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries for the smooth working relationship, goal oriented tasks and striving to actualize the 2nd point Agenda of H.E Governor Napotikan 9 point Agenda on Development in Turkana County. I wish you accord the same cooperation to the incoming CECM as I told you yesterday in the handover ceremony.

It's now a gear shift to execute my new challenge of meaningful engagement with Traders, making Cooperatives work, standing with the gender and youth affairs in our county to meet our goals in moving the Governor's agenda to fruition.

Together with Livestock Development Chief Officer Ezekiel Ekuwam, we made a visit to the County Veterinary Labaratory as part of our routine work in the office. Once operationalised , the labaratory will facilitate disease diagnosis and provide timely and informed response to livestock disease outbreaks.
