County Assembly of Turkana

The Budget and Appropriations Committee of the County Assembly of Turkana will be conducting public participation forums on the Budget Estimates for the Turkana County Government for the Financial Year 2026/2027, on the days, dates, wards, and venues indicated in the schedule below. Members of the public are therefore notified and invited to participate.

The House has adjourned for a short recess and will resume on 16th June 2026 at 9.00am as per its Calendar.

The House has approved the recommendations contained in the report of the Committee on Education, Sports and Social Protection on the review of the Turkana County Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) policy framework 2025.

The Policy seeks to strengthen access to quality ECDE services, improve teacher support, enhance school feeding programmes and address key challenges affecting early childhood education in Turkana County.

The House has passed the Turkana County Supplementary Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2026 with Amendments. The Bill provides for the issue of monies out of the County Revenue Fund to meet public expenditure during the financial year ending 30th June 2026.

The County Assembly hosted Kalobeyei Senior Secondary School's Forms 3 and 4 History and Government students.

Honorable members gave the youngsters encouragement on cross-cutting issues pertaining to academic pursuits and professional path development.

Students were taken through the Assembly customs and practices, legislative responsibilities and mandates, legislative procedures, legal tools, democracy and governance, and the County Assembly's interaction with the county executive were all covered during a tutorial session with the learners.

Ambassador Ekitela Lokaale Pays Courtesy Call to Turkana County Assembly, Urges Unity and Professionalism.

The Kenya Representative to the United Nations, Ekitela Lokaale, paid a courtesy call to the County Assembly of Turkana where he previously served as the Second Speaker.

Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Lokaale described the occasion as nostalgic, noting that it revived the good memories and experiences he had while serving the Assembly. He expressed his joy at reuniting with some former Members of County Assembly who were re-elected, as well as interacting with the new generation of MCAs currently serving the people of Turkana.

The Ambassador encouraged the MCAs to remain committed to effective service delivery and to avoid divisive politics that may hinder development and unity. He emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum and mutual respect even in moments of divergent political opinions and debate.

Ambassador Lokaale also met members of staff of the County Assembly, urging them to execute their duties with dedication, professionalism, and integrity. He further encouraged them to build strong networks and meaningful relationships with colleagues and friends, noting that such connections are important in personal growth and public service.
