*Wa-Susanah memories*
As FIFA World cup kick off tomorrow Thursday 11th June, I want to take this opportunity to celebrate a man who brought the World cup to the village. The year was 1998 and the world cup was being held in France, about 3000 miles from our village. Kenya wasn't a participant but the excitement filled everywhere. Our only hope as a village was that one man would set up a hall and bring world cup live to the people at a subsidized fee of ksh.10. We thank God because all this hopes were fulfilled courtesy of one man by the name Mr. Kariuki Wa-Susanah also know as Wa-Maina. 1998 World cup memories are still fresh in our minds from group stage all the way to the final where France carried the day. 24 years memories and still counting courtesy of this great leader is something exceptional. Furthermore, Wa-Susanah played a major role in transforming Mathareini Shopping centre. He introduced the modern electric hair cutting machine in the area. Before then we were used to the old manual ones or a pair of scissors. We will forever remain greatful to this great leader, businessman, church leader and a mentor who until his demise was admired by many. As we mourn this great leader, I pray that God Almighty will rest his soul in eternal love. To the family, may our Lord wipe your tears....Amen.
