Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale emphasised that preparedness comes from:

✅ Investing in our health workforce
✅ Strengthening functional systems
✅ Building a coordinated response
✅ Preparing ahead of time

These remarks came as Kenya National Public Health Institute and partners train Kenya's Rapid Response Teams on preparedness and response.

Rapid responders are the first line of response to disease outbreaks, helping detect, investigate and contain threats before they spread. The training equips participants with skills they will cascade to teams across all 47 counties, strengthening national preparedness.

While Kenya has recorded 0 cases of , continued preparedness remains essential to safeguard communities and strengthen regional health security. 🇰🇪

The training brings together teams from The Ministry of Health, County Governments of Kenya, Directorate of Veterinary Services Kenya, Kenya Defence Forces, Kenyatta National Hospital, and partners including World Health Organization African Regionn, Africa CDC, IOM - UN Migration , Amref Health Africa in Kenya and others.

WHO and The Ministry of Health, handed over critical maternal and cancer care equipment to .

➡️ 108 electric obstetric theatre beds delivered to 45 health facilities across 11 priority counties

➡️ Cancer screening, diagnostic, laboratory, pathology & treatment equipment provided to 8 facilities in Bungoma and Nyandarua counties

➡️ Supporting Kenya's goal of reaching 10,000 women with cervical cancer screening.

Already, more than 3,767 women have been screened through the Women's Integrated Cancer Services Project since 2023, with this new equipment helping to expand access to early detection, diagnosis and treatment.

✅ Participants conducted a simulation exercise to strengthen coordination and response to a suspected case.

✅ A field drill at Alupe Hospital, the proposed isolation center, covered case detection, safe transfer, patient care, infection prevention and control, waste management, and discharge.
