Attention all liquor outlets in Mombasa County!

The Directorate of Liquor Control and Licensing, through the Department of Tourism, Culture and Trade, is taking a strong stance against non-compliant liquor outlets. As you may be aware, the Mombasa County Liquor Act, 2014, requires all liquor outlets to adhere to certain regulations and guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.

Recently, there has been a surge in the number of liquor outlets within the county, which has led to concerns about the potential risks associated with these establishments. To address these concerns, the Directorate is launching an exercise to crack down on non-compliant liquor outlets.

Non-compliance includes; Noise pollution, Operating outside of designated hours, Being located too close to worship places, learning institutions, or residential areas and Failing to pay for their liquor licenses, among others.

We urge all non-compliant liquor outlets to take immediate action to rectify these issues. The Directorate will not hesitate to take enforcement action if necessary to ensure that businesses are conducted in accordance with the law.

We understand that running a successful business can be challenging, but it is important to prioritize the safety and well-being of our community. By working together, we can create a harmonious environment where everyone can enjoy the benefits of a thriving economy while also protecting our shared values.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are committed to ensuring that all liquor outlets in Mombasa County operate in a safe and responsible manner.

I joined H.E. Governor AAbdulswamad Shariff Nassir in celebrating his first year in office by inaugurating MombasaCare, a program aimed at providing free NHIF coverage to 16,000 families residing in Mombasa. This significant initiative took place at Caltex Grounds in Likoni. The program's launch is the culmination of a series of free medical camps held in all 30 wards of Mombasa, aimed at identifying the most vulnerable members of our community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to NHIF, the Mombasa County Assembly, and our dedicated strategic partners who have worked tirelessly alongside us to turn this vision into reality.

I accompanied H .E. Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir to Likoni School for the blind, where we engaged with both the educators and students. This significant institution caters to more than 300 youths from the entire Coastal region. An even greater privilege was having the children offer prayers for the well-being of Mombasa and our collective prosperity.

Exciting morning! 🌟 Joining forces for a vital journey in empowering women. Hats off to Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) for their unwavering support through thick and thin. KRCS stood by vulnerable Kenyans during the COVID-19 crisis, and now, they're taking the next empowering step through Mombasa Humanitarian Innovation Center, also known as Mombasa I.O.E.001.

Here's why it's inspiring: KRCS is offering a platform at Mombasa I.O.E.001 for women to showcase their entrepreneurial talents. With proper funding, this could drive their socioeconomic growth and benefit society as a whole.

Big shoutout to our partners, the French Red Cross, and the French Embassy in Kenya and Somali. By focusing on women entrepreneurs, the Women Social Entrepreneurship Institute (WSEI) is nurturing a segment of our society that binds us together. The success of the first group will motivate more women to join this program.

Recent findings from the Kenya Women's Empowerment Index (WEI) indicate that only 29% of Kenyan women have equal participation in political, economic, and cultural spheres, often determined by their household circumstances.

Our society is evolving, with more women leading households. This initiative complements existing government programs like the Women Enterprise Fund, Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO), and the Mombasa County Government Revolving Fund.

The County Government of Mombasa is here to support and partner with you in this noble endeavor. Don't hesitate to reach out for assistance.

Thank you to all our program partners. To the women entrepreneurs selected for business formalization and expansion, I wish you all the success. Your achievements will ensure the long-term success of this program. 🚀 "

Today proved to be an exceptionally fruitful and eventful day at my office, filled with a range of important activities and engagements. Our agenda for the day comprised the following key elements:

Welcoming and officially swearing in the newly appointed County Chief Officer. This momentous occasion marked the beginning of their tenure, and we all gathered to witness this significant transition in leadership.

Embarking on a comprehensive mapping exercise, which aimed to chart our course and better understand the landscape of our responsibilities and objectives. This exercise served as a crucial step in our strategic planning process.

Delving into a thorough review of the progress report, where we assessed the accomplishments, challenges, and developments within our projects and initiatives. This allowed us to gauge our current standing and identify areas for improvement.

Dedicating time to meticulously plan and prepare for an upcoming stakeholders' meeting. This meeting holds great importance as it provides an opportunity to engage with key individuals and organizations, fostering collaboration and synergy in our endeavors.

Implementing the newly issued directives pertaining to liquor. This involved putting in place the necessary protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with the updated regulations, promoting responsible consumption and the well-being of our community.
