The Africa Public Sector Human Resource Practitioners Network – Kenya Chapter Conference, themed "Human Capital as Statecraft: Reimagining Public Sector HR for National Transformation,” concluded its fourth day with a thought-provoking panel discussion on the future of human resource management in the age of artificial intelligence.

The session, led by Dr. Fred Mukabi, explored the emerging role of AI in managing HR functions within organizations, particularly within the public sector. Panelists examined how artificial intelligence is transforming core HR processes such as recruitment, performance management, workforce analytics, and talent development. The discussion also highlighted the opportunities AI presents in improving efficiency, evidence-based decision-making, and strategic workforce planning in government institutions.

At the same time, participants engaged critically with the ethical, governance, and policy implications surrounding the adoption of AI technologies. Issues such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, accountability, and the need for human-centered oversight in automated HR systems featured prominently in the dialogue.

The conversation underscored a shared understanding that while AI is rapidly reshaping the future of work, public sector HR practitioners must remain proactive in building the skills, frameworks, and policies necessary to harness technology responsibly.

The journey toward building a Dream Campus continues to take shape through the ongoing Rapid Results Initiative (RRI).

One of the key targets under the RRI is strengthening customer service excellence across the institution. Last week marked an important milestone as 38 staff members successfully completed the Customer Service Excellence training programme, equipping them with the skills and mindset required to deliver exceptional service to clients and stakeholders.

To recognize this achievement, the Campus Director, Dr. Fred Mukabi awarded the participants Excellence Badges, which they will proudly wear while on duty. The badges symbolize the campus’s commitment to professionalism, responsiveness, and a culture of service that places clients at the center of every interaction.

Speaking during the recognition moment, Dr. Mukabi emphasized that customer service is not merely a function but a defining culture of the institution. He noted that every member of staff represents the image of the campus and that excellence in service delivery is central to realizing the vision of a Dream Campus where clients feel valued, respected, and eager to return.

This milestone reflects the campus’s broader vision of creating a workplace where professionalism, excellence, and integrity define both internal culture and external service delivery.

As the 100-day Rapid Results Initiative progresses, such steps continue to demonstrate how deliberate action, teamwork, and shared commitment are turning the vision of a Dream Campus into reality.
