Together with Hope Mobility Kenya and in partnership with the ACK Diocese of Mombasa, we supported the distribution of mobility devices at no cost to improve the lives of persons living with disabilities through enhanced mobility, independence, and dignity.
The exercise involved the provision of different types of wheelchairs, walking frames, crutches, and walking canes in line with WHO guidelines to ensure safety and suitability to individual needs. Our Deputy Governor, Francis Thoya, was also in attendance, reaffirming the county leadershipâs commitment towards inclusion, accessibility, and the empowerment of persons with disabilities through strong partnerships and community support initiatives.

Hon. Jonathan wephukhulu had the honour of attending the PCEA Shanzu Church Funds Drive held in support of church development and community empowerment initiatives. The gathering reflected a strong spirit of faith, unity and collective responsibility as congregants and well wishers came together to contribute towards the growth and strengthening of the church.
As a department committed to social development, community cohesion and moral empowerment we recognize the important role faith based institutions continue to play in nurturing values, supporting families and promoting positive social transformation within our communities.
We commend the church leadership, organizing committee and all faithful members for the successful initiative and their unwavering commitment to serving society. May God bless every contribution made and continue to guide the church in its mission of spreading hope, faith and compassion to the people of Mombasa County.

The Department hosted members of the Youngtaks Society during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing youth empowerment initiatives across the county. The engagement provided an important platform to discuss partnerships focused on creating sustainable opportunities for young people through community driven programs that promote leadership, responsibility, environmental conservations and positive social transformation.
Among the key areas discussed was the upcoming Beach Cleaning Festival set to take place on 16th May 2026 at Nyali Beach. The initiative is expected to bring together youths from different institutions and communities in a collective effort to promote a cleaner, safer and more sustainable coastline. We commends the Youngtaks Society for their dedication in mobilizing young people towards meaningful community service and impactful environmental action.
We encourage the young people of Mombasa County to continue embracing collaboration and service to society as we work together towards building a progressive generation.

Our CECM Hon.Jonathan wephukulu joined by fellow county leaders and staff during the Orientation Training for newly appointed interns in the Department of Transport & Infrastructure held at the Inspectorate Headquarters. The program officially welcomed interns from diverse professional fields including Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Survey and Electrical Engineering.
The session was attended by Mombasa County Public Service Board Chairperson Madam Farida Abdalla, CECM for Transport Hon. Manyala Dan, Chief Officer Transport Professor Ali Sharrif alongside other county officials and staff members.
As a County Government, we remain committed to nurturing and empowering young people by creating opportunities for mentorship, professional development and meaningful exposure to public service. Internship programs such as these play a vital role in equipping young professionals with practical skills, experience and values that contribute towards building a competent, innovative and service driven workforce for the future of Mombasa County.
The interns were encouraged to embrace integrity, discipline, professionalism, teamwork and dedication as they begin this important journey of service to the people of Mombasa County.

The department was honoured to witness the exciting finals of the Chuchu Memorial Cup 2026, a tournament that beautifully showcased the growing talent, discipline, unity and sportsmanship among our youth. The event brought together teams, supporters and community leaders in a powerful celebration of football and youth empowerment.
The department was pleased to host and engage alongside distinguished leaders including Ibrahim Babangida among other guests who joined the community in supporting this inspiring initiative.
From the opening whistle to the final match, the tournament displayed exceptional determination, teamwork and passion from all participating teams. The energy on and off the pitch reflected the important role sports continue to play in shaping disciplined, confident and empowered young people within our communities.
Congratulations to B13 for emerging as the champions of the Chuchu Memorial Cup 2026. Your commitment, resilience and outstanding performance throughout the tournament earned you a well-deserved victory.

The Department of youth ,gender, sports and social services proudly joined the rest of the East African region for the official opening of the East African Local Authorities Sports and Cultural Association (EALASCA) Games at the KPA Mbaraki Stadium.
Our CECM, Hon. Jonathan Wephukulu, presided over the ceremony on behalf of H.E Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, warmly welcoming delegations and partners from Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda to the beautiful city of Mombasa for this exciting regional showcase of sports culture and unity.
The department was also honoured to receive H.E James Orengo, Patron of EALASCA alongside other distinguished guests whose presence highlighted the growing importance of regional cooperation through sports and cultural exchange.
The EALASCA Games continue to play a vital role in strengthening friendships, promoting teamwork and fostering unity among East African nations. Beyond competition these games celebrate our shared culture talent and commitment to empowering communities through sports.
