CONNECTING TAITA TAVETA ENTERPRISES TO MARKETS, INVESTMENT & GROWTH

KNCCI Taita Taveta Chapter joined the Taita Taveta County Government at the Taita Taveta International Trade Expo at Voi Gemstone Centre, engaging exhibitors and entrepreneurs on opportunities for market access, value addition, investment and business growth.

The Expo showcased the potential of local enterprises across gemstone value addition, leather processing, Jua Kali innovation, circular economy, herbal products, baking and traditional crafts—demonstrating how local resources and skills can be transformed into competitive, market-ready products.

We recognise and appreciate H.E. Christine Saru Kilalo, Deputy Governor, Taita Taveta County, for gracing the Expo and supporting platforms that promote entrepreneurship, enterprise development and trade.

FROM TRAINING TO OPPORTUNITY: KNCCI MENTORS OVER 200 YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS IN VOI

Over 200 young entrepreneurs in Taita Taveta have completed specialised training under the Jiinue Growth Program, covering Waste Management, Circular Economy, Entrepreneurship and Market Access.

The mentorship and certification session brought together KNCCI leadership, who shared practical insights on building resilient enterprises, strengthening business networks and unlocking market opportunities.

Today, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the KNCCI Taita Taveta Chapter joined representatives from the KNCCI Lamu and Kwale Chapters on a courtesy call to the Managing Director of Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Capt. William Ruto.

The delegation was led by the KNCCI National Director for the Coast Region, Mr. Shakkir Swaleh.

The purpose of the meeting was to officially invite KPA and seek its support and partnership for two key regional events:

- Regional Chamber@60 Celebrations – Lamu, 28–29 July 2026
- Taita Taveta Trade Expo & Gala Dinner – Mwatate, 13–14 August 2026

During the meeting, the team explored areas of collaboration, including exhibitions, technical participation, logistics support, and the restoration of catchment areas as part of a shared commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable economic development. These initiatives will help ensure our members and the wider business community benefit from these platforms.

Capt. William Ruto received the delegation warmly and reaffirmed KPA's commitment to partnering with KNCCI in promoting trade, investment, environmental sustainability, and the blue economy in the region.

The KNCCI Taita Taveta County Chapter yesterday hosted Ambassador Herbert Kiguli, Consul General of the Republic of Uganda in Mombasa, on a strategic visit focused on strengthening trade relations between Taita Taveta County and Uganda, building on the existing strong partnership in the tourism sector.

The visit commenced with a courtesy call to Linda Okola, County Commissioner of Taita Taveta County, before proceeding to Teita Sisal Estate where discussions centered on the potential production of coffee sacks for the Ugandan market, expansion of sisal investment opportunities, and exploration of production capacities.

The delegation later visited a poultry farm in Ndii to explore opportunities in sourcing raw materials for poultry feeds from Uganda and the possibility of establishing a poultry feeds manufacturing venture.

The engagements marked an important step towards enhancing regional trade, investment, and economic collaboration between Taita Taveta County and Uganda.
