Yesterday, Nairobi City County CEC for Business and Hustler Opportunities Dr. Anastasia Nyalita joined leaders from across Kenya for Day 1 of the Devolution Conference 2025 in Homa Bay which focused on Good Governance – making counties work better for their people and their businesses.

The event was officially opened by H.E. President William Ruto who launched the Council of Governors Devolution Institute—a transformative initiative that will strengthen capacity building and enhance service delivery in our counties.

Waziri Nyalita engaged with Governors Senators leaders from various sectors and development partners to explore how transparent systems public participation and strong performance management can enable counties to better serve citizens and create an enabling environment for business growth.

For small business owners and entrepreneurs the message was clear: Counties that prioritize transparency accountability and citizen engagement provide the best conditions for economic opportunity innovation and inclusive growth.

As Nairobi’s CEC for Business and Hustler Opportunities Waziri Nyalita remains committed to advancing these values to ensure Nairobi City County remains a hub for thriving enterprises and empowered citizens.

At the recent Nairobi City County Cabinet Retreat with H.E. Governor Johnson Sakaja, Nairobi County CEC for Bussiness and Hustler Opportunities Dr. Anastasia Nyalita shared progress across the Business and Hustler Opportunities (BHO) Sector - which includes 9 key directorates like Markets, MSME Development, Cooperative Audit, Weights & Measures, Trade Licensing, and more. A portfolio that touches everyday lives in powerful ways.

Here's a quick round-up of achievements in the sector.

1. Markets: Ongoing infrastructure improvements creating dignified trading spaces conditions, access, and safety across key markets
2. MSEs: 595 small businesses to start training under Biashara Stimulus Program this August
3. Cooperatives: 79 registered, 71 revived
4. Trade Licensing: Improved coordination and digital systems roll out in progress for easier business registration
5. Weights & Measures: Calibration and fair trade checks ongoing protecting both consumers and businesses ensuring fair trade across the county

These achievements reflect the hard work of a dedicated sector team and shared commitment to making Nairobi’s economic spaces more dignified, efficient, and inclusive.
