BREAKING NEWS: After two days of board meetings, Kenya’s clean-cooking startup Koko Networks has let go of its entire 700-person workforce and shut down operations. A board member and an employee told TechCabal that the company was facing bankruptcy following a dispute with the Kenyan government over the sale of carbon credits. Carbon credits were the cornerstone of Koko’s business model, and the authorities’ refusal to grant the company a letter of authorisation left it with no viable options.

Koko’s shutdown could push about 1.5 million households back to dirtier, more polluting fuels like kerosene and charcoal. The company also employed over 700 direct employees and worked with thousands of agents operating over 3,000 automated refuelling machines.
When companies shut down, jobs are lost. Poverty level increases. The government you want!!!
