The inaugural Science, Technology, Research and Innovation (STRI) for Society Week 2026 will take place 18–22 May 2026 at the KICC Kenya

Convened by the State Department for Science, Research and Innovation in collaboration with the National Research Fund Kenya, National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation and Kenya National Innovation Agency, this landmark week will bring together researchers, innovators, industry leaders, policymakers, students, and the public.

The National Research Fund (NRF) has launched a Research Data Security Training, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening the quality, integrity, and impact of publicly funded research in Kenya.

The workshop has brought together experts from universities, MDAs, and research institutions to build practical skills in safeguarding research data, intellectual property, and expertise. In his opening remarks, the CEO emphasized that protecting research outputs is a national imperative, critical to maintaining public trust, supporting economic growth, and ensuring lasting development impact.

Sessions are focusing on data governance, international best practices, and disclosure requirements, with active discussions on how to integrate security protocols into everyday research management.

The training continues through 13th February 2026, supporting ongoing efforts to keep Kenyan research secure, trusted, and globally impactful.

✅ Kenyan citizens
✅ Full-time postgraduate students at recognized universities
✅ Below 35 years (Master’s) | Below 45 years (PhD)
Funding
✅ PhD: Up to KES 2,000,000 (3 years)
✅ Master’s: Up to KES 500,000 (1 year)
