JOINT STATEMENT BY YOUTH FOR KENYA AND YOUNG POWER ALLIANCE KENYA ON YOUTH EXCLUSION IN RECENT POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS

Date: 6th May 2025

In recent political activities across the nation, we have witnessed a growing trend where young people are systematically sidelined from key decision-making positions, only to be called upon when numbers are needed for rallies or, worse, to serve as paid agents of disruption. This blatant disregard for youth inclusion in critical governance and policy discussions undermines the very essence of progress and sustainable leadership that Kenya desperately needs.

As Youth For Kenya and Young Power Alliance Kenya, we took a step back to observe, hoping that the new political formations would prioritize the voices of young people in leadership. Unfortunately, what we are witnessing is not inclusion but exclusion—young people being seen as tools for political mileage rather than partners for national development.

This is a direct call to action for the youth of Kenya: It is time to take our destiny into our own hands. We must build strong, unified formations that secure our place at decision-making tables. Our involvement should not be limited to the sidelines; we should be signatories in political agreements and partners in the development of working memorandums with like-minded political formations that genuinely value youth leadership and empowerment.

We urge every young Kenyan to join us as we embark on this transformative journey. Let us come together for a greater cause—to create a political wave driven by the energy, innovation, and ambition of our generation. Our time is now.

Signed,
Youth For Kenya Leadership
Young Power Alliance Kenya Leadership

📢 YOUTH, IT’S TIME TO UNITE! 📢

Our power lies in our unity! The future of our nation depends on young people coming together, standing as one, and ensuring our voices are heard. Let’s not be divided by political interests, tribal lines, or personal differences. Instead, let’s unite for a common cause—a better Kenya for all!

Together, we rise. Together, we change the narrative. Together, we build a future that represents us all.

Join the movement. Be the voice of change. ✊🏾

Instead of empowering young people to be agents of real change, the system is turning them against each other. This divide-and-conquer strategy only weakens our collective power to hold the government accountable. The youth must wake up, reject manipulation, and fight for justice—not political handouts.

Our capable Secretary General and Y-PAK Chairperson, Hon. Eric O. Amunga, was present at the award ceremony for the prestigious Peace Ambassador of the Year Award, presented to His Excellency Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka by the National Council for Community-Based Organizations. This honor celebrates his unwavering dedication to peace and community development.

As Youth for Kenya 🇰🇪, we are committed to rapidly creating opportunities and empowering our fellow youth. In partnership with Franky's Foundation, we recently visited Korogocho as part of a program focused on equipping young people with IT and maintenance skills. Through this initiative, more than 3,000 youth from informal settlements have been empowered.

We want to inform Chief Justice Martha Koome that both women and young men were victims of the atrocities at Kware. This issue is not about gender but rather a rogue state action targeting young people.

As Youth For Kenya, we express our strong disapproval of the police brutality against journalists, including the use of excessive force and live ammunition. Our country has progressed too far to witness such actions.
