We had the honour of hosting representatives from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kenya, led by Counselor Mr. Sun Yinan, for fruitful discussions on partnership opportunities aimed at enhancing collaboration between Non-Governmental Organisations in China and Public Benefit Organisations in Kenya in fostering sustainable collaboration and shared impact.

The Authority's Director General Dr. Laxmana Kiptoo and senior officers participate at the 3rd Annual Regulatory authorities and agencies (RAAs) conference at the South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU), Kwa Vonza, Kitui Campus. The event hosted by the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service that started today and ends on Friday, May 8, 2026, brings together regulatory authorities and agencies to foster collaboration, strengthen governance, and enhance public service delivery.

Sensitisation on countering terrorist financing happened today at the Kilifi Convention Centre, Kilifi Bay Beach Resort, Kilifi County, as the Authority deepens its collaboration with the Kenya Non-Profit Organisations (NPO) Working Group on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Supported by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and GIZ, the programme has convened NPOs to enhance awareness and strengthen measures to safeguard the sector against the risk of terrorist financing abuse.

The Executive Director of Transparency International Kenya (TI-Kenya), Sheila Masinde, paid a courtesy call on PBORA Director General Dr Laxmana Kiptoo to discuss collaboration on developing a guide to support the NPO sector in understanding and managing Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) risks. As part of the Kenya Non-Profit Organization Working Group, TI-Kenya is implementing an initiative aimed at addressing cross-border corruption and illicit financial flows to promote sustainable development. TI-Kenya has engaged Flywheel Advisory Consulting Limited to develop a practical Guide on Understanding the AML/CFT Risks for the NPO Sector. In line with the FATF Recommendation 8, Countries are required to assess and mitigate the risk of NPO misuse. This calls for NPOs to adopt risk-based AML/CFT measures, including donor due diligence, monitoring of fund flows, and reporting suspicious transactions, while safeguarding legitimate charitable activities.

The has partnered with stakeholders to safeguard the Non-Profit Organisations (NPO) sector against the risk of terrorist financing abuse. In partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), GIZ and the Kenya NPO Working Group on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the Authority is conducting sensitisation sessions in Kilifi to equip NPOs with knowledge on terrorist financing and practical measures to prevent and mitigate the threat.

Day two of the sensitisation on countering terrorist financing is underway at PrideInn Diani in Kwale County, with the Authority continuing its collaboration with the Kenya NPO Working Group on Financial Action Task Force (FATF). The programme, supported by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and GIZ, has brought together Non-Profit Organisation aiming to strengthen awareness and safeguarding the sector from financial abuse.
