Senator Majiduaro Oscar Omondi met our ODM Party Sage, Comrade Opiyo Wandayi in a tête-à-tête last evening. They discussed and agreed that we have to work “day by day” to restore the party’s fortunes, by carrying out a grassroots rebuilding and renewal strategy following various electoral setbacks, and instability caused by last year's demise of our Party Leader. This situation has led to unwarranted defections at the local level due to systemic ideological division that have previously fractured the party with focus to Siaya County.

The political rift in Siaya County between Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi and Alego Usonga MP and Chairman Budget Committee Sam Atandi has pushed the party in Siaya into a highly volatile state. The party's traditional stronghold cannot withstand another full-scale internal fallout without risking its grip on Siaya. The Party lost big in Siaya County due to the fallout between Gov. Orengo and Senator Dr. Oburu following the succession of Dr. Oburu Oginga as the new Party leader. Another functionality and fallout would definitely be disastrous. It's completely unnecessary. We hope any differences are amicably resolved and reason prevails..
