Let it be made very clear: no one has an issue with Kikuyus living in Embu, Meru, or Tharaka-Nithi. Those living in Mt. Kenya East are our brothers and sisters. We have lived together peacefully, and that has never been the problem.

The real issue is systematic marginalisation of Mt. Kenya East by Mt. Kenya West. For 62 years since independence, development, power, and opportunity have been concentrated in the western side of the mountain, while the east has been treated as an afterthought—useful only during elections, then forgotten.

Despite this injustice, Mt. Kenya East has faithfully and loyally supported leaders from the west for the highest offices in the land. We stood with Jomo Kenyatta. We stood with Mwai Kibaki. We stood with Uhuru Kenyatta. We never questioned regional origin—we chose unity and sacrifice.

But the moment Mt. Kenya East produces a leader capable of taking the top seat, that is where some in the west draw the line. Suddenly, unity no longer matters. Suddenly, leadership from the east becomes unacceptable. That hypocrisy is exposed and cannot be ignored.

If Mt. Kenya West cannot support leaders from the east the same way we supported them, then let it be known: Mt. Kenya East is ready to take its own independent political path. We will no longer beg for inclusion, recognition, or fairness.

If unity only works when power remains in the west, then that unity is a lie.
Let the mountain be divided politically if its a must—sisi tubaki kwetu, wao wakae kwao .
