STRENGTHENING CONSERVATION GOVERNANCE

The Maa Economic Bloc led by CEO Jackson Ole Mpario, under the Southern Landscape Project and in partnership with the County Government of Narok; Department of Tourism and Wildlife, Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association, Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association and ifaw, convened a consultative meeting with the Narok County Assembly during the scrutiny of the proposed Narok County Conservancy Bill.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on the Bill, with a focus on strengthening conservation governance, enhancing community participation, and promoting sustainable management of conservancies within Narok County.

This collaborative process underscores a shared commitment to developing an inclusive and robust legal framework that reflects community interests and advances conservation efforts across the Southern landscape.

In attendance were the Tourism and Wildlife Coordinator Morgan Siloma, CECM for Tourism and Wildlife Robert Simotwo, Chief Officer Samuel Ndorko among others.

The Maa Economic Bloc (MAAEB), Secretariat led by CEO Jackson Ole Mpario in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Wildlife and Culture held a planning meeting ahead of the 4th Edition of the Maa Cultural and Tourism Festival set for 3rd - 8th November 2026 in Narok County.

Discussions focused on aligning the implementation framework, strengthening coordination structures, and enhancing collaboration across all levels; from the Summit to Working Groups.
