𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐛 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐮𝐬)

The superb starling (Lamprotornis superbus)is a small, brightly colored bird native to East Africa. Known for its brilliant, iridescent plumage and cooperative breeding behavior, it is a common sight in savannas, woodlands, and even gardens.

𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬:
𝐒𝐢𝐳𝐞: Measures about 18–19 cm (7.1–7.5 inches) in length.
𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝: Distinctive bronze-black head, which helps differentiate it from similar species.
𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲: Features a glossy, metallic blue-green coloration on its back, wings, neck, and upper breast.
𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝: A thin, white band separates the blue-green breast from its red-orange belly.
𝐄𝐲𝐞𝐬: Creamy-white or pale yellow, which is a key trait distinguishing it from the similar Hildebrandt's starling.
𝐉𝐮𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬: Have duller plumage and lack the prominent white breast band.

𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫 -(𝐏𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐢)

The white-browed sparrow-weaver (Plocepasser mahali) is a bird species found in East and Southern Africa. It is known for its distinct white eyebrow stripe and is commonly found in dry woodland and wooded grassland areas.

Key characteristics of the white-browed sparrow-weaver include:

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: It is a sparrow-sized bird, predominantly brown with a broad white eyebrow stripe and a white rump that is visible during flight. The male has a black bill, while the female's bill is horn-colored.

𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫: This species is a cooperative breeder and lives in family groups of two to fourteen birds. The dominant pair in the group handles most of the breeding, while other members help to raise the young.

𝐍𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: They build messy, inverted U-shaped nests of dry grass in the outer branches of trees, often thorny ones. Roosting nests have two entrances, while breeding nests have only one.

The Sharpe's Longclaw (Macronyx sharpei) might be the most stylish bird in Kenya! This little songbird rocks a striking black and white patterned crown with a pop of yellow on its underparts.

But looks aren't everything! Sadly, the Sharpe's Longclaw is an endangered species. Their grassland habitat is shrinking, making them a rare sight.
