Kenya today joined the global community in marking World No To***co Day 2026, reaffirming its commitment to protecting public health from the harmful effects of to***co and ni****ne products.

To***co use remains a major public health challenge in Kenya, contributing to an estimated 12,000 deaths annually. Health experts have raised concern over the growing popularity of emerging ni****ne products, including vapes, e-cigarettes and ni****ne pouches, particularly among young people.

The Government has continued to strengthen to***co control through enforcement of the To***co Control Act, smoke-free public spaces, graphic health warnings, restrictions on advertising and promotion, increased taxation, public awareness campaigns and the to***co-free farms initiative.

Efforts are also underway to address emerging ni****ne products through enhanced enforcement measures, action against illicit trade and sales to minors, and ongoing legislative reforms aimed at strengthening regulation and penalties.

Kenya remains committed to safeguarding children and young people from ni****ne addiction while advancing measures that support a healthier and to***co-free future for all.
