I want to make an observation. You see these MADAS of Comrades we are witnessing in BnBs and Forests, us parents are a big contributor. Hear me out. One, this is not to say it is justifiable and two, this is not to say parents/guardians do it deliberately.

You are a comrade in one of the Universities in the Cities. City life is pretty expensive. Ask me because I’ve studied and lived in Nairobi for over 8 years. Nairobi life is so expensive that even employed middle class feel it🥹Now you can imagine a comrade!😱Mombasa could be worse.

Your Parents are struggling peasant farmers in Oloitokitok like mine, or Khwisero, or Tiaty… Your parents have never left the village, and they are also poor. To them, 500/= is enough for them to survive a month… Now they project the same to you, every month after breaking their back, and God knows taking debts, they manage to send you 500/1000 bob monthly upkeep. We all know it is not enough to last you 5 days if you’re a man, and worse if you’re a woman!😭They will remember next that they have a son/daughter in the next month. Yes, they have done their best but their best is just not enough.

Most cases, it is poverty, lack of basic needs, coupled with peer pressure that has led these young people to early graves!💔
Of course older men/women have taken advantage of these situations, but the bottomline is that were these young ones not desperate, they’d not have fallen for such.

May God watch over our youths in colleges/universities.
