The Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) awarded certificates to 12 staff members under its Competency-Based Capacity Building Programme, marking a key milestone in strengthening institutional capacity and investment expertise. The inaugural cohort comprised 10 participants from PSSF and two from the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA), reflecting growing collaboration across public sector institutions.

The two-week intensive programme, delivered by industry experts, covered key areas including financial markets, equity and bond analysis, portfolio construction, risk management, real estate, private equity, and alternative investments. It was designed to enhance practical investment skills and strengthen stewardship of members’ funds.

The Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) concluded a two-day Communication and Media Management Training Programme for its senior management team, conducted by the Media Council of Kenya.

The programme focused on strengthening strategic thought leadership and embedding communication as a core pillar of strategic leadership and decision-making while also building capacity in crisis communication. Other areas covered include media engagement, corporate communication in the digital era, and the development of clear, impactful messaging aligned to organisational objectives.

Through expert-led sessions and practical simulations, the training enhanced competencies in navigating the evolving media landscape, engaging stakeholders, and delivering customer-centric communication with clarity and consistency.

We launched the inaugural PSSF Pension Training Academy, opening a 14-day intensive programme in Financial Instruments Analysis and Investment Management to build internal capacity in investment management.

The programme, Module 1 of what PSSF intends to build into a fully institutionalised Academy, was officially opened by PSSF Chief Executive Officer Dr. Jonah Aiyabei and was graced by Mr. Laban Molonko, CEO of the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA).

"This is not just a training exercise , it is an investment in the people who manage the retirement savings of Kenya's public servants," PSSF CEO Dr. Jonah Aiyabei said at the opening. "Our Fund is worth approximately Ksh 317 billion. The team that manages it must be equipped to the highest professional standard."

The two-week programme will cover the full spectrum of financial instrument analysis, from equity valuation and fixed income trading to real estate, private equity and alternative investments. Participants will undertake live financial modelling, trading simulations and case studies drawn from Kenyan and East African capital markets.
