“Msee, niaje, twende lunch!”

Our intern in Politics, Press & Cultural Affairs, Almut takes us behind the scenes of embassy life, where no two days ever look the same. One moment it’s political analysis, press briefings and cultural work… the next it’s “quick meeting” that somehow becomes a full session 😄

And somewhere in between, there’s always that important question: “where are we eating?” usually answered at a local kibandaski😉

That mix of serious work, fast shifts and everyday Nairobi moments is what makes life at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Nairobi genuinely exciting and structured… but never boring.

Interested in diplomacy, communications, culture or international relations? Here’s your glimpse into embassy life in Nairobi 👀

A taste of Kenya, shared in partnership 🇰🇪🤝🇩🇪

Kienyeji chicken, sukuma wiki and ugali are more than a meal, they reflect Kenya’s rich culinary heritage and the central role of food in community and culture.

We were pleased to host Reem Alabali-Radovan , 🇩🇪Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, during the just concluded week. During her stay, she had the opportunity to experience Kenyan cuisine firsthand, guided by Kenyan roaming chef Dennis Ombachi, who introduced her to the preparation of this traditional dish.
