It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Prof. Raphael Munavu, a distinguished scholar, scientist, and devoted public servant whose contributions to education and national development have left an enduring mark on our country.
As a former Vice Chancellor and Chair of the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms, he played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s education landscape. In his recent role as Chairman of the Konza Technopolis Development Authority, he provided visionary leadership that strengthened Kenya’s position as a hub for innovation and a knowledge driven economy.
Prof. Munavu will be remembered as an academic giant, a mentor, and a true nation builder.
I extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends, and the academic fraternity during this difficult time.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Welcome to Connected Africa Summit 2026
No human is limited. Bravo, Sebastian Sawe on a record-breaking London Marathon run shattering barriers and redefining endurance. A proud moment for Kenya. Kudos to Hellen Obiri and Joyciline Jepkosgei for strong podium finishes.

Today, I had the honour of joining H.E. President William Samoei Ruto and H.E. Deputy President Prof. Kithure KindikiKi for Day One of the Murang’a County Development Tour, where we witnessed meaningful progress across key sectors that directly impact livelihoods.
From the launch of the Kiriko–Karugia Road in Mathioya, to the groundbreaking of the Kiharu Affordable Housing Project and the 580-bed hostel at Kiharu Technical Training Institute, as well as the inspection of the Mumbi Stadium, today’s engagements reflect a deliberate focus on connectivity, dignified living, and opportunities for our youth.
At Kiharu TTI, we also commissioned a 100-computer Jitume ICT Lab, a vital step in equipping young people with practical digital skills and pathways to online work and innovation. This is how we anchor the Digital Superhighway agenda at the grassroots.
I thank the great people of Murang’a for the warm reception and strong show of unity. Today’s momentum affirms that the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda is not just a vision, but a reality unfolding across our counties.
We look forward to building on this progress as the tour continues.

Kenya’s transformation is built on the pillars of decent housing and digital literacy.
Today in Kiharu, Murang’a County, I was honored to accompany H.E. President William Samoei Ruto and H.E. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki for a milestone day at the Kiharu Technical Training Institute.
We officially broke ground on a KSh 300 million, 580-bed hostel project. This isn't just about bricks and mortar; it’s a strategic part of a KSh 27 billion investment across Murang’a designed to dignify student living and stimulate the local economy through affordable housing and modern markets.
To ensure our youth are competitive in a global market, we also launched a 100-computer Jitume ICT Lab. This hub will serve as an incubator where students can bridge the gap between classroom learning and digital monetization.
We are not just training students; we are equipping the architects of our digital future. 🇰🇪
