WILD WILD WILD JUNGLE

The lake Nakuru National Park is growing smaller and the Lake is growing bigger. Flamingoes are no longer comfortable because the water is no longer holding the algae they are fond of.

Today the Nairobi national park is growing smaller and smaller than before. First the southern bypass and now the railway soon and very soon there will be no Park and being the only Park in the world within a city then it means it will soon be faced out. It is so sad.

Two lions left the Nairobi national park and are roaming around and the rangers are on hot pursuit to return them back home where they belong. We already we are missing them and we are worried that they might start hunting. I hope we get them soon.

On Friday as i came to work in the morning through the Nairobi National Park to avoid the Jam so as i approached the Ivory burning site from the Dam as i came out of the lager i pumped into over 12 Lions with several cubs. I came into a halt some came to my window some were playing in front of my bonnet i freaked out because i was all alone in the car. the one on the drivers window was piping and i nearly lost my breath so i raced and it came down and moved away. Just imagine you are me what would you have done? i couldn't even take a picture because i froze.

The only park in the world within the city is Nairobi national park. This park is some minutes away from the airport as you wait to catch another flight just drive in through east gate near imara daima or near ole Sereni Hotel and you are in the park. From bomas you enter the park through Nairobi park gate langata gate near brookehouse school or banda gate inside the park we have several camp sites and viewing point. We also have the historical ivory burning site. Which also serve as a camp site and venue to great events. You can also rent the ivory burning site to do an event put tents and even wedding in the wild. Don't shy away just visit our tourism dept and book. Karibuni.

On Friday 4th April 2014 i left the Park late from a function at King fisher camp site. As we approached the main gate we found three male Lions sleeping on the middle of the road and it was not about to leave their comfort zone as the Land cruiser approached it did not even blink so we had to maneuver the Lions and passed it was an amazing colony they were passing a message that do not disturb and please leave us alone. My interpretation is that the male were on heat and were timing the female to make their colony and that this was their area and we should stop bothering them. Many go inside the park and do not even get to see the King of the jungle but when you are not even looking for them they are just there lying on the tarmac on the middle of the road. The Giraffee too was walking gracefully as we were going inside in the afternoon without a worry in the world.

Hey one time there was this case where there was a blood thursty lion who had broken its leg and was caled kiguru meaning the limping one so one day it attacked and ate a ranger another time it bounced on a lady ranger on duty and hel5 broke loose. it had to bd killed. that is how kiguru died.

In Kenya we have 52 parks and National reserves. we also have several Marine parks and here it goes Kisite mpunguti mombasa marine Watamu Marine Malindi marine and Kiunga marine. Popular parks are Tsavo East Tsavo West Lake Nakuru, Amboseli, Mt Kenya Aberdares National park, Ruma Mt Elgon Shimba Hills National park Kakamega Forest, Kisumu station, Central Island, Sibiloi Arabuko Sokoke Lamu and many more. Please note that Maasai mara does not belong to Kenya wildlife service but it belongs to Narok County council.

The Hippos have a family union and as they live in water they are so united and stay in groups. One thing is certain is that the male in the family is jealous and anytime the female is pregnant it keeps its distance because if she bears a male then the male in the heard will try to kill the new born baby so that he cannot be removed from power. If the male is born the mother will move very far so that the baby can be safe and if by coincidence she meets the male then a fight will ensure to defend the new baby. The Hippos graze at night so that the sun cannot dry their skin and during the day they just stay in water to safeguard the skin. When the male baby is of age he will eat well and one day will put up a fight against the male and fight horn to horn whoever wind will be the team leader.

After working in the jungle for many many years i have come to learn how animals behave. Sometimes animals behave better than humans. If you watch the Eco systems you will realize that it is a circle. Lions eat and hunt other animals, the Leopard the cheeter and most of the Cat family. The Rhino , Elephants, Buffalo, Gazzelle, Giraffe and many others survive from browsing or grazing others live in the Water and also on the land like the Turtle Hippopotamus and crocodile. The birds of the air also have a way of life others live on rocks others on rivers and lakes others on trees. You will find so many birds in the park more than anywhere else because they know Humans cannot be interfered by humans.

There are two types of Hyena i.e Stripped Hyena and Spotted Hyena. They are more of scavengers and mostly depend on the Kill by Lions after their meal. They are also hunters but since they cannot run so fast so they look for small animals or new born. This is quite a sight because everywhere you find lions you will always know that Hyenas are around somehow. This good for today meet you later on another animal.
