Technopolis Development Authority CEO John Paul Okwiri today hosted an Equity Group delegation led by Amb. Mary Mugwanja, Director of Public Sector and Institutional Banking, for a high-level engagement aimed at exploring areas of collaboration and partnership to accelerate the growth of Kenya’s innovation ecosystem.

The discussions focused on investment opportunities within Konza Technopolis, infrastructure development, digital financial services, innovation ecosystem support, SME growth, and financing solutions that can unlock greater value for investors, innovators, and businesses operating within Africa’s Silicon Savannah.

The delegation included Jonny Falla, Group Director, Innovation and Technology; Mary Mungai, General Manager, Nairobi East Region; Hellen Jonathan, Branch Manager, Machakos Branch; and Ishmael Karani from Public Sector and Institutional Banking.

Technopolis Development Authority is pleased to announce that we have entered into a Collaboration Agreement with The Good Drone Company and its exclusive Kenyan partner, ThatcherX to designate the Konza National Drone Corridor as their official test centre in Kenya.

The Smart City continues to position itself as Africa's premier destination for advanced drone testing and operations.

As home to Africa's first Beyond Visual Line of Sight national drone corridor, we have developed world-class infrastructure and regulatory frameworks specifically designed to support serious commercial and technology development activities at scale.

This partnership brings The Good Drone Company's advanced hybrid VTOL cargo drone technology to Kenya’s national drone corridor.

Following a successful inaugural flight test at Konza Technopolis, conducted under the observation of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority - KCAA and the Ministry of Defence, we are excited to welcome them and ThatcherX as they establish dedicated operations at our facility.

By attracting leading international drone technology developers like The Good Drone Company, we are further strengthening the Smart City's role as the premier hub for BVLOS testing, validation, and innovation in Africa.

This collaboration supports our broader mission to advance Kenya's capabilities in next-generation aviation, create opportunities for local expertise, and demonstrate the readiness of our corridor for real-world commercial applications.
