Every step matters, from clean waters to safe markets.
Food safety and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) do not stop at the shoreline.
Poor fish handling and contaminated waters can spread drug-resistant microbes from lake to plate.
Clean waters and safe fish handling are essential to ensuring food safety and protecting public health.

The State Department for Livestock Development successfully concluded the public stakeholder participation forum for the operationalization of the Bachuma Livestock Quarantine Station (BLQS).

The forum brought together communities, county governments, exporters, producers, and development partners to discuss the proposed lease arrangement that will see a private investor complete pending works and manage the quarantine facility.

Stakeholders and community members in Taita Taveta expressed strong support for engaging a private investor to operationalize the BLQS.

With stakeholder input now incorporated, the BLQS is well-placed to become a major driver of economic empowerment and growth in the livestock sector.

FAO hands over KIAMIS to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development as Kenya Advances Full Digitization of Agriculture Data under KADIC

Today, during the Intergovernmental Forum on Agriculture in Naivasha, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and partners officially handed over the Kenya Integrated Agriculture Management Information System (KIAMIS) to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development — marking a major milestone in Kenya’s digital agriculture transformation.

KIAMIS will be housed at the newly transformed Kenya Agriculture Data and Information Centre (KADIC), positioning it as the national hub for agricultural intelligence.

Kenya’s new livestock traceability platform — the Animal Identification and Traceability System (ANITRAC) — is also fully developed.

With the growing global demand for transparent and verifiable food systems, the consolidation of KIAMIS and ANITRAC under KADIC strengthens Kenya’s ability to provide farm-to-fork traceability.
