We're on it again💯 join us for a virtual film producing masterclass on the 26th of February with Toni Kamau.
🎬
Peabody-nominated producer, writer and creative advisor Toni Kamau grew up in Kenya, where the only state broadcaster, Voice of Kenya, mostly aired reruns of 1980s sitcoms, her only glimpse into the outside world. When she later traveled to the places she had only seen on TV, she became fascinated by how stories shape our understanding of the world.

She brings a unique blend of creative vision and business acumen, honed through years in corporate films, and commissioned docs, into the independent feature and episodic space. As founder of the Nairobi-based production company We Are Not the Machine, she is currently collaborating with filmmakers globally to develop a slate of scripted and unscripted projects that explore what happens when outsiders stand at the edge of transformation, and decide to jump.
Her acclaimed nonfiction credits include Softie, I Am Samuel, and The Battle for Laikipia, a powerful film on Indigenous culture, conservation, and climate justice in Kenya. It premiered at Sundance and earned her the 2024 Sundance | Amazon MGM Studios Nonfiction Producers Award.
Toni contributes to the global film industry as a member of the Producers Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Creative incubation provides time, resources, and critical support for ideas to evolve into fully realized creative works. It's where art learns what it wants to become, where imagination is given time to grow before being seen📷📹🔥
