FAREWELL TO MY LEADER AND BROTHER, RT. HON. RAILA AMOLLO ODINGA.

It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of personal loss that I mourn the passing of my brother, mentor, comrade, and Party Leader, Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga — former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya.

Raila Odinga was more than a political leader; he was the Father of Devolution, a champion of democracy, and a true Pan-Africanist whose courage and vision transformed Kenya’s political and governance landscape. He devoted his life to the pursuit of justice, equality, and freedom for all.

Having had the honour of serving as Deputy Party Leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) under his exemplary leadership, my political journey is deeply intertwined with Baba’s. Together, we walked the path of the struggle for multiparty democracy, constitutional reforms, and the birth of the 2010 Constitution — the cornerstone of devolution. As Governor of Kakamega County, I witnessed firsthand the fulfilment of Baba’s dream of a devolved Kenya, where power and resources belong to the people.

To me, Raila Odinga was not only a leader but a father figure and an enduring source of courage and inspiration. His humility, wisdom, and unwavering belief in Kenya’s potential will continue to inspire generations across our continent.

On behalf of the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs Development, my family, and myself, I extend heartfelt condolences to Mama Ida Odinga, the Odinga family, friends, the ODM fraternity, and the people of Kenya.

Kenya has lost an icon; Africa has lost a Pan-Africanist. I have lost a brother, mentor, and true friend. Baba nurtured lives, built leaders, and gave meaning to public service.

Fare thee well, Baba.
