COWS DON’T GIVE MILK

A peasant farmer used to say to his children when they were young: "When you all reach the age of 12, I will tell you the secret of life." So one day, when the oldest child turned 12, he anxiously asked his father what was the secret of life.

The father replied that he was going to tell him the secret, but that he should not reveal it to his brothers yet. "The secret of life is: the cow does not give milk."
"What are you saying?" asked the boy incredulously."
"Just what you hear, son: the cow does not give you milk,
" But dad, we are always drinking milk from the cow," the boy said.
"Yes, you do. But you have to milk it." The father said then went on. "You have to get up at 4 am in the morning, go to the field, walk through the cowshed full of fresh and dry dung, tie the tail, hobble the legs of the cow, sit on the stool, place the bucket between your legs, and do the work yourself." The man explained.
The son was shocked.
"That is the secret of life; the cow does not give milk. You either milk her or you don't get any milk," the old man concluded.

There is this generation that thinks that cows GIVE milk. That things are automatic and free. Their mentality is that "if I wish, I ask... I obtain." They have been accustomed to getting whatever they want the easy way. But no, life is not a matter of wishing, asking and obtaining. The things that one receives are the effort of what one does. Happiness is the result of effort. Lack of effort creates frustration.

So, remember to share this secret with your children, from a young age, the secret of life. So they don't grow up with the mentality that the government, their MP, their MCA, their parents, or their cute little faces is going to give them everything they need in life.

Yesterday in Budalangi Constituency, Busia County commissioning the ‘Hustlerlizing’ tree planting program. During the process we planted 5420 trees as part of celebrating The 56th Birthday of H.E President Dr William Ruto.
To win many numbers into forest cover afforestation, we should deliberately attach economic value to the initiative. Tree planting is an emerging frontier for investment investing for future. You can plant tree for school fees for your child at age 1 year and by the time the child hits 12 years, you have mature trees for sale and eventually school fees for the child. You can also plant tree for medicinal value, fruits, for world cup matches or any holiday. A 4 yr old tree has a market in building and construction sector. Attaching economic value to tree planting will incentivize our people to make it part of their life and well being.

Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs development is committed to establishing mutual relationship between the two Governments (Uganda and Kenya) and ensuring that trade and business amongst MSMEs flourish well hence growing economy of the two countries. This morning I accompanied my Cabinet Secretary Hon Simon Chelugui during the meeting with Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Hon Gume Fredrick Ngobi(MP) minister of cooperatives in Kampala, Uganda.

Paid a Courtesy visit to the Ugandan Under Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives on the sidelines of the 22nd EAC MSME Trade Fair in Kampala, Uganda. We had an interactive session and rich discussion on how the two Governments can work together in promoting and developing MSMEs in both countries. We agreed to prompt engagement between Kenya and Uganda to work on issues affecting the MSMEs including harmonization of the Non-Tarrif Barriers (NTBs) that promotes value addition and provision of conducive environment for business.

Evening meeting and dinner extension with Micro and Small Enterprise Authority Exhibitors from Kenya in Kampala Uganda.

Access to market has been a major challenge affecting the MSMEs. The joined initiative between the East African Community in partnering together so as to provide MSME access to larger market for their goods and services will really strengthen the economy of the region. Today at Kololo Independence Grounds interacting with Micro Small and Medium Enterprises coming from various parts of the East Africa Community (Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya).
