Yesterday, the Optometrists Association of Kenya (OAK) joined partners and stakeholders to celebrate the retirement of three outstanding champions of eye health: Dr. Michael Gichangi, Mr. Ernest Barasa, and Sr. Perpetua Nyakundi of the Ministry of Health β Eye Health Section.
OAK was proudly represented by our Secretary Genera Ernest Atemo - Emf and Deputy Secretary General Lily Metto , who conveyed our gratitude on behalf of the association.
For decades, these leaders have been at the heart of shaping Kenyaβs national eye health agenda β from guiding policy and strengthening systems, to mentoring professionals and ensuring access to quality eye care for millions of Kenyans.
We salute their dedication, vision, and impact. As they step into retirement, we celebrate their remarkable legacy and wish them joy, peace, and fulfillment in this new chapter of life
