Today, H.E. President Dr. William Ruto inspected the ongoing construction of the Starehe Affordable Housing Project — a transformative 955-unit development set to provide decent and affordable homes to residents of Nyahururu and beyond.

The project is among many being implemented across the country to advance access to decent and affordable housing for Kenyans, while also creating jobs for local youth, supporting small businesses and suppliers and stimulating economic growth within Nyahururu and the wider region.

Beyond housing, the development is building livelihoods, empowering communities, and driving inclusive urban growth under the Affordable Housing Programme.

Machakos Affordable Housing Project continues to transform lives through decent, affordable, and modern housing.

Phase I, comprising 220 housing units, is already complete and fully occupied, with residents enjoying generous green spaces, ample parking, and other thoughtfully designed amenities that promote comfortable living.

Building on this success, Phase II has officially commenced and is steadily progressing toward delivering an additional 570 affordable housing units across 14 blocks — a major step in addressing the growing demand for quality housing in the country.

Beyond housing, the project continues to drive economic growth by creating employment opportunities for women, youth, and Jua Kali artisans, while also supporting small businesses within the surrounding community.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR TRADERS IN CHUKA TOWN BEGINS AS THE CHUKA MODERN MARKET IS COMMISSIONED.

H.E. President Dr. William Ruto commissioned the Chuka Modern Market developed under the Affordable Housing Programme, ushering in a space where traders can grow, compete, and thrive in a safe, organized, and all-weather environment.

The all-weather, modern facility creates a dignified trading environment where local traders can truly thrive, come rain or shine. Equipped with cold rooms to reduce post-harvest losses, smart stalls for efficient operations, among other facilities.

With inclusive amenities such as a mothers’ room and a children’s play area, the market goes beyond trade, offering comfort, dignity, and support for every user.

H.E. President Dr. William Ruto has today handed over the newly completed Kangari Modern Market (Mama Mboga Biashara Centre) in Kigumo Constituency, Murang’a County, developed under the Affordable Housing Programme.

The modern facility will offer a dignified, all-weather trading environment for over 600 traders, enhancing efficiency and supporting well-organised business operations for local entrepreneurs.

H.E. President Dr. William Ruto has today inspected the ongoing construction of the Ciumbu Modern Market in Maragua, Murang’a County, reaffirming the government’s commitment to empowering local traders.

Once complete, the market is set to accommodate over 200 traders, providing them with a decent, all-weather trading environment in which to thrive.
